I am currently employed with another supermajor and applied to a Job with XOM in search for better benefits. to my surprise, the offer I got is 33% lower than my current package! Either the position was not at the same level of seniority or the fantasy I had that XOM would be paying top dollar compared to other is false

Base salary at XOM is definitely below average base salary you’ll find at most other majors, plus there is no performance bonuses for 95% of the employees. Management and HR will say things like the company makes up for this with other benefits like the Pension and 401k match…but my experience is that most other majors also provide decent benefits besides salary and bonus. Also, the medical plans at XOM su*k compared to other companies.
