The Media outlets were at Intel sites when they heard about layoffs and wrote up articles from " sources " when they got wind of massive layoffs. A better way to show how Intel plays games inhouse, send numerous commentaries to the media

There is no trust in Intel mgmt anymore. Corporate has driven a wedge between employee and manager. Essentially the employee will need to document everything they do for their manager based on an agreed plan and follow this plan to ensure they get a fair review. Documentation will be essential with mgmt sign-off and witness signature moving forward. So sad it has to go to such a legal level to seek justice.

Intel management just lost respect and loyalty from more employees with this action. Shame on Intel.

Here is some truth you should know before being fussy about this blocking thing.

When Intel laid off employees based on SSL they received for the first time last year (2015), those impacted employees were not forced to leave immediately. They could still access Intel network even after they were given the notice. Some impacted employees shared their experience and thoughts through internal employee blogs. Even worse (from Intel's standpoint), their sharing were actually factual and constructive, receiving tremendous amount support from fellow employees. They generated a lot more “like” than most blogs by Intel executives. Intel considers that information sharing a threat to the company’s productivity and employees morale. Some impacted employees also filed appeals before they were cut from Intel internal communication, causing a lot of work for HR. So Intel HR and management decided to let the employees leave immediately (walk you off the door) after they are given notice this time. Since a lot of more employees are laid off than the number of HR people, the meeting and escort services can be only arranged through a period of time. Blocking this site from Intel Intranet is only one other thing on the list that is actually less significant. Intel believe most readers coming to this site are those already fired. After you are fired, Intel does not really care how you feel and what you think. At the same time Intel does not want their existing employees to be informed by any unofficial non-Intel management source. Intel has a good side and evil side like everything else. What you see and how you are treated depends on where you stand (i.e. employed or fired). Whether Intel (essentially its top management) is going to show more good or evil ultimately depends on how well it does in business.

If I were one who has been laid off, I would focus on finding another job; If I were one who are still employed, I would focus on my current job and make sure my manage is honest with me and treat me fair when it comes to performance review. In either case, I would still visit this site if I can find something helpful or be helpful to others.

I am with Qualcomm, a similar thing happened to us - they blocked it internally, the board is still lively - I would not be concerned too much. Makes you hate the company even more.

All of us should pause for a moment here and think about what the freedom of speech principles mean to each of us.

Intel has every right to block it on internal networks but:

1. It will backfire, employees will become even more disgruntled and alienated, the engagement dips

2. We will find a way to continue to exchange ideas, news, etc. - The days of keeping the worker in the dark are over and this is the technological advancement that empowers the little guy (ironically, Intel was the company that enabled this advancement)

3. The execs should really stop and think what kind of image they want to build for this company, a heavy-handed management-eccentric style of the pre-2000s, or an open approach that values the employee and free flow of information

The chicken sh** mgmt knows the real truth so they try to block it from their employees. This will only cause the employees to be curious what the discussion is about that would cause execs to freak out so they can access it on their personal devices. Hilarious.
