Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

New manager

Re org gave me a new manager and she’s making my life he-l. She used to be peer. Asking status in every 2 hours. Micro management at its worst level. I’m the only one suffering I feel as I used to be peer. I’m understanding but not sure what to do

Post ID: @pler+1sERSfHN True. If enough employees Quit on their own, Citi will Not need to pay Severance and it will be that much easier to sell the bank in whole or pieces. Citi is a Numismatist of Consent Orders, MRAs/MRIAs ? How about a Philatelist ? [French philatélie : Greek phil-, philo-, philo- + Greek ateleia, exemption from payment (because a postage stamp indicates prepayment of postage)

It's an open secret that 50% to 90% of Citi employees are searching for new jobs. The employees hate their "Manager", Team/Group-Co-workers, the work, workload, whatever. The employees are only doing the bare bones minimum work until their time is up either voluntarily (they Quit on their own) or they get Fired (Laidoff or Fired). This may be what Citi actually wants to happen.....a Potemkin Village where Braindead Incompetent Low Caliber Id!ots remain at Citi all while they have a delusional, unrealistic view of themselves, their "Skills" and "knowledge" and the Potemkin Villagers have delusional narcissistic superiority! This is happening in NAM Risk and Finance. It's NO wonder Citi has so many, new and additional Consent Orders, MRAs, MRIAs etc. and can Not get the old going back years if not decades Consent Orders, MRAs and MRIAs closed because the OCC and other Regulators refuse to allow it because Citi's "corrective" actions are STILL deficient or Non-existent. Citi is an avid collector of Consent Orders, MRAs and MRIAs like Numismatists ! LOL ! Schadenfreude !

After thousands of employees were and transferred to new "managers", new groups or new teams, we're all just supposed to act like we're one big happy family in the new group/team and to continue working like busy bees as if nothing (No Layoffs) happened. Citi is like the M@fia. If Citi can K!LL Off or Layoff competent and skilled employees, but keep the Braindead Low Caliber Id!ots, Citi can do that to anyone including me. During team meetings, we're expected to join in on the jokes and fake, two-faced disingenuous camaraderie especially from the CAOs and Team "managers". I'm NOT buying or drinking the Fvcking Koolaid. I'm looking forward to my new job with a new Real Bank Employer who will actually pay for my coding and business skills at a Real Salary and Bonus. ROTFLMFAO !!!

Post ID: @3uts+1sERSfHN Thank you for this! DART CAO are know it alls. They think they know everything about everything and mete out unwanted advice and criticisms. Their jobs descriptions and resumes probably say "Must be a know-it-all and despotic".

As other Posters have already posted about various Citi departments, in NAM Risk several people with the skills and knowledge who can actually save the Citi Titanic from itself were forcibly transferred under a new "manager" who have less or inferior qualifications. Some of the former chose early retirement AND are now working for a Competitor. They are now collecting two paychecks. I would have done the same exact gambit. The latter group of employees should have been given the former group of employees' responsibilities and direct reports, but instead were snubbed or overlooked for promotions because of the usual reasons (favouritism, politics, etc.). Other posters have already explicated that skills and knowledge mostly were Not taken into account as to who got the Layoff Axe or who did or did Not get promoted. I was LMFAO when some employees were congratulating the "Retiring" employees. The "Retiring" employees took / accepted their Retirement packages because they realized they NO longer wanted to wait around for years to maybe get promoted in addition to the fact that a less qualified employee took the job the former should have gotten ! As others have already posted, Citi thinks its Restructuring/Reorg program will retain, bring in or attract "only the best" or better employees. NO. The opposite is happening and will happen. Citi is the refuge last resort Employer who can Not find a better Employer (salary, job responsibilities, promotion prospects, etc.) than McDonalds or another Fast Food Restaurant. I see it everyday based on who did Not get the Layoff Axe and their new hires. I'm leaving this Sh!tH0LE Sh!ttybank for greener pastures. LOL!

Regarding qualifications don’t matter- despite this being called out in the 2020 Consent Order by OCC & Fed.
Look at the global wide ‘skills assessment’ underway currently for each employee- no mention of qualifications held.
Also, qualifications were not a selection criteria for layoffs/ ignored there too. That is one reason employees who were more highly qualified and specialised in their field, were let go while less qualified people were retained and even promoted.
These are facts. by Anonymous Post ID: @2kat+1sJSwHez

Yes true about Risk DART CAO. They think they're omniscient and know everything about everything. They dole out unwanted and unsolicited advice and criticisms about which they have only a rudimentary understanding of or No knowledge of the subject matter, project, processes, etc.. Coriolanus and his Effie Trinket (Hunger Games movie) of Risk DART CAO behave like this and lead the way. And make No mistake. All of their direct and indirect reports down the org tree are the same exact way. And yet, Citi still wonders why it's in the $hitHole it's in, when Citi has Megalomaniacs, Power-Hungry Egotistical maniacs, Micromanagers and mediocre employees such as the aforementioned. They would Not survive past the first 3 months probationary period in Real Banks such as JPMC, GS, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Barclays etc.. Most of the Ds, MDs and Executive "Management" were the Real Banks' Trash that got FIRED and then Citi hired. Citi's new Head of Banking & Executive Vice Chair was Fired from JPMC. Others were Fired from Morgan Stanley, GS, etc.. One Employer's Trash, is another Employer's (Citi) Treasure.

Really childish games that is being played. Passive aggressive behavior. They say nzice words and then do differently behind your back. It is really strange that you work so long and think to build good enough closeness but only to fall flat ... its hunger games... you wonder why citi does so poorly? Its because of greed. egomaniacs...that cant do the right thing because thye want more power.

@3ecp+1sERSfHN Exactly! They also get pi$$Ed if you do not take their advice and then behave with tantrums, ignore you, and being unapproachable (O&T). Basically they act like teenager boys and girls in high school. NEVER trust them or you'll learn a hard lesson. The CAO group of folks are very manipulate. I'm speaking from experience on a minor level, others have had much worse encounters.

Post ID: @yho+1sERSfHN Oh, do you mean Risk DART CAO ? Of course, Citi and Insane Jane blatantly LIED when they said they're getting rid of all of the CAOs. Every Citi Department, and every Citi Group STILL has its own CAO. The C in CAO is for "Criticism", which all the CAOs do all day, find fault with everything. It's probably in their job description. They're delusional and actually believe they're helping people. They force people to take their unsolicited and unwanted "advice" about how to improve projects, processes and procedures they know little if anything about. Just because you know how to drive a car does Not mean you know how to build or make a car. In addition to forcing people to take their unsolicited and unwanted "advice", they all walk around imperiously with a Long Broomstick Up Their A$$ES !!!

Post ID: @1rlj+1sERSfHN The OP is Not talking about any meetings. The OP said the New "Manager" wants status updates every 5 to 20 Fvcken minutes by email and/or text in MSTeams.

Lol I don't even want to think about it. I dread these meetings and is one of the reasons why I would consider quitting. I'm doing my job.

Like is it a mandatory Citi thing?

I come from a company that didn't have these only when absolutely necessary.

Honestly, if someone asked today to recommend Citi, I would say a huge NO. Citi went from pretending to be a worker friendly flexible company to an impersonal place that treats workers like slaves. Most managers don’t help to make work easier. Instead they spend their time micromanaging workers and adding more useless rules. It is like how can they make each day less enjoyable and burdensome.

Weekly update? Man u r luckier than those who are dealing with "daily" update, simple calculation 1 hr "daily" update means u already asking the person to work for 7 hrs instead 8

@rjz+1sERSfHN 😂 Hilarious! I'm sure they'd probably want details. Do you F@RT at work and sc--w your nose up at the person next to you like they did it? Is this 1 or 2 times per week? Please make a PPT slide for your F@RT metrics and OKRs. It's due tomorrow by 9am. LOL.

It's so true. Micromanaging has increased a bunch in my dept. They want weekly updates, more metrics, etc. Most of these managers/leads are email/keyboard warriors who would never have the b@lls to say this stuff in person? However, the psycho ones don't care and would say things to your face or via Zoom.

Post ID: @yho+1sERSfHN True about the Micromanagers and Control freaks in Citi NAM Risk. They want to know about every F@RT movement and details of the employees' lives and work. Did you F@RT today?? How many times did you F@RT ?? Did you F@RT on the left side, right side, up or down ?? Is your F@RT smell tolerable or is it the type that can literally K!LL people?? This may be a hyperbole, but Not by much.

Cant agree more, and also these control freaks are "only" doing this micro manage. If someone see their work slate there's no actual "work". I don't understand why to have them?? And as I see in some other thread on level reduction, where's the level reduction here where it's needed most. And these managers do these micro manage just to hide their own work slate. I lost hope literally

You must be in NAM Risk "Management". The NAM Risk "Managers" are ALL AN@L, Micromanagers and Control Freaks!!! In addition to the other advice you're getting in this Thread, make sure you ping your new "manager" via MS Teams every time you need to step away to go to the bathroom. When you get coffee in the pantry or at Starbucks, ping her/him. Email and / or ping your Micromanager every 5 to 20 minutes about "status updates", what you're doing, what you're about to do or work on, etc.. Eventually, the Micromanager and their Managers will get the implied message. Micromanagers are Not only Control Freaks, but also managing people or subordinates is a Power Trip for them and their egos.

Could be simply awful manager or getting ready to bully you. Suggest emailing your next level up for meeting, giving one line explanation on the email. You must n-p this in bud- now.

Play the game was the best response. Do what they do x2. Make it fun and passive aggressive. Set a timer and log ur updates in email or teams. They bring it up - say you wanted to be proactive because you noticed they wanted an update every x. But switch up frequency periodically.
