The only thing that's not in doubt is Mackey/Robb/Gallo's opinions of themselves. They're up sh-- creek without a paddle. I work for a competitor now and we are serving them organic humble pie EVERYWHERE we open. And we're not going to stop. Our execs don't write books, but they wrote the book. Know what I mean?

For a company lead by a fellow who wrote a book on capitalism, there is a serious deficit of quality business acumen
They have been working on getting rid of full-timers for years.
Costco and Publix are top notch. #wholefoodsmarket
Of course they want to axe the FT people they are the ones who have been around the longest and make the most money.
The PN doesn't offer rainchecks.
Neither store I worked in offered rainchecks ever.
They do offer rainchecks in the CHP-south store.
There are a couple of Pubix stores near me that are 80% natural and organic and the quality, prices and promotions are fantastic. Unlike us, they issue rainchecks but overall they do a good consistent job of planning for demand so they don't have to! Many times I watched our "service" desk explain that we don't issue rainchecks, it's your tough luck if we FAILED to forecast properly. At Costco and other grocers I can get everything I need in one trip whether it's organic apples, coconut water or Dawn dishwashing liquid, even an A/C filter or motor oil if I need it. There is a reason why Wegman's, Publix and Trader Joe's are 1-2-3 nationwide in customer ratings surveys and we're somewhere around #35. This survey is from 2014 but not much has changed. It's called Leadership. They've got it. We don't. We're changing the world though. LOL http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2014/03/27/grocery-stores-consumer-reports-rankings/6967537/
Whole Foods is in deep shit... In the past, Whole Foods could charge an arm and a leg for organics, as they were the only game in town...Look around now....
Costco has an entire organic section. And every single time I go to a Costco, that section is packed with young people. The cost of items? 1/2 of what Whole Foods is... Not only that, more people have been shopping at Trader Joes and other local groceries that beat Whole Foods on quality and price.
