Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

This is the last thing I needed

I'm under strict orders from my doctor to reduce stress in my life due to some health issues I've been having. This news has managed to singlehandedly undo all the progress I've made in the last several months. This better be done quickly so we know where we stand. The last thing I need is to wait for weeks or months to find out if I'll be affected or not.

"...are culled yet again with no regard for the business knowledge..."

I Got told by IT Vice President that Domain Experience is of no value to Nielsen IT.

Whenever Nielsen management changes, the new C-suite reorganizes the company, people leave for other opportunities (with consequent "thanks for your service), and the new executives bring in their preferred co-workers. Next, the second level of management reorganizes and does the same, then the third and so on. Sometimes this starts within a few months and sometimes it begins several months later. Morale drops steadily. Experts find better paying jobs elsewhere and the remaining worker bees are culled yet again with no regard for the business knowledge walking out the door. It's a sad story but, I am sure, not specific to Nielsen.

It is utterly ridiculous to wait for weeks or months for your life to HAPPEN to you. Make it happen. You only get one, and yours is not going to be going that well if you let this get toi you. Take charge now. Brush up the resume, get the premium LinkedIn subscription temporarily, enable ready to work and let recruiters know you're looking, and start applying and interviewing. Doesn't have to be stressful unless you allow it to be.
