I was fired yesterday, signed papers, will get severance money.
I have planned to leave anyway, so it's like a bonus for me.
I feel relief. No more stupid trainings, no more prolonged meetings and toxic managers.
I feel bad for those who stay. The workload will increase with fewer people on board.

@1kjb+1rLvvCfH, for a regular bank employee there are lots of opportunities outside. Trading, financial services, advisory, regulatory bodies, govt, risk consultant...
For Tech teams, IT coding, new product, financial training website, + Gig Jobs...
Note that you can still look jobs in Insurance, Credit Unions, Investment firms or even fintech startups in addition to Banks.
@wdx+1rLvvCfH - Thank you for the reply. What do you mean by starting a "new domain"? It is a new way of looking at things especially for these who have been in Banking and finance for a long time.
Post ID: @oxy+1rLvvCfH Laidoff means company downsizing same as RIF. Fired could mean: 1) Poor work performance including PIP 2) For cause: stealing, h@rassment, @ssault, violence, threats, coercing others to steal, s3xual @ssault, gender/race/religious/disability discrimination, etc..
Fired or laid off. Fired means for cause
There aren't greener pastures, sorry to burst your bubble. I felt so liberated and empowered when I left my last job until the reality of the new job kicked in. Just like they are price gouging, companies are acting like they don't have money to give raises, to hire more people, like they are in trouble... but then you see them splurge in unecessary spending, you see them being very generous with their executives and hiring more. People that barely have any impact, don't even show up any day to an office, live a luxurious life thanks to their fat paychecks but they don't have enough for the average employee. All these people have impressive resumes, look good in paper, about all the changes and impact they did at so and so company, then they're in and are completely useless.
Totally agreed
Bye for me too. Initiated retirement today.
I would have liked the package but not going to wait around any longer. Besides, who knows if the same package will be offered later?
Best of luck to both those laid off this round and to the survivors.
@OP+1rLvvCfH - if you were fired yesterday how come you already signed papers?
Couple of my colleagues were let go on Monday 25 and HR didn’t contact them yet.
There is no "New Citi". What you see, are some desperate actions of an inept management who refuses to acknowledge its failures.
Trim the fat, stock with rise…….
Buh bye
Thanks @OP, same here ...
I got a new Job. Thanks Citi for letting me go around March/April timeframe and pushing me for new experience. Market is getting back again. Your money is like a bonus to me now. I am also starting a new company with my 10+ years of experience with Citi.
To all my friends who got laid-off this week. Don't panic, feel better that you failed fast.
I can foresee lots of layoff's coming specially by end of consent order and every quarter. Take a deep breath and think differently. Since Citi has closed its door, every one will fall to JPM or BofA or CapOne. If you are in your 45's or 50's+, its your time to explore something different. May be a new business or a new "Domain".
I am challenging both Citi and HR, you will never get good employees for upcoming years. Your name and fame has reached everyone. The only employees you can hire is same old and useless consultants without ethics and moral. You just survive with your H1B slaves. You are going to hit a huge attrition for the mental torture you have established with your employees for past 6 m.
To India team counterparts, enjoy your time now. Congrats you survived most of the layoff with some of your senior managers being let go. Entire "New Citi" is going to be built on "dead body of Indian developers". You are going to be ripped left and right. If you prefer work-life balance, start looking around.
To Citi management, Please continue with your politics....
ALL THE BEST.
