Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Workplace morale was absolutely horrible

Working alongside a former “Deputy Co-Assistant Senior Director of Regional Presidents” (we sure do love these fluff titles) taught me everything I needed to know about corporate HyVee attitudes. Any disagreement on ANY decision is seen as disrespect and met with childlike tantrums including being yelled at like a baseball umpire in the offices of your workplace. I have never seen a higher level of turnover (or long-term employees just quitting on the spot) in my entire career here. You are told you have autonomy over your department repeatedly, yet are constantly micro-managed in a way which proves that even your stores top leadership has no clue what they are doing, but won’t hesitate to break it even more for you to clean up. I have never seen people literally lose physical color due to stress before these past two years. This company has surely taken a stark nosedive, which leaves those who have invested decades of their life into it with no hope for the future. I’ve been gone for around a year now, but I still feel beyond sorry for whichever poor kid Jamie Franck is currently bursting every vein in his head and neck yelling at due to something they have absolutely no control or real authority over.

Jamie Franck is horrible. He hated me because I was opening my own business. He’s an awful human.

Recovering from Franck induced PTSD as we speak. I was given a directive from a regional manager of my department who outranks JF. JF threw a tantrum like no other, turned bright red, screamed at me and threatened to fire me on Christmas Eve. He didn’t because he “didn’t want to be that guy”. Yeah okay. I looked him right in his fat face and said “we’ll either way you will pay me: either as an active employee or via unemployment. You make the choice”. His response? Transfer me to another store and black list me along the way making sure I would never succeed or prosper in the future within the company. But the higher ups would never dare to investigate any complaints about their store directors.

I agree completely, Randy has managed to erase 80 years of a profitable business model and replace it with this mess. And believe me, it's a mess. He seems to be more interested in rubbing elbows with celebrities. From s—ing up to Ivanka Trump to his bromance with Mark Wahlburg, he's invested more in those things than the employees who have made this a $10 billion company. Now they want to get rid of all full time employees and think they can run this thing with part timers. Sure, you don't have to pay insurance, you don't have to give benefits, and wages are cheaper. But part time help isn't invested in your company the way full time people are. And most of them are young kids with no experience in any work field and care more about their phones than the customer in front of them. Randy has wasted this company and the shareholders should be stringing him up. Yup, rolling in their graves.

VERY WELL SAID!!!! I couldn't agree more. My store director has his wife working right along beside him. He's too stupid to know how to manage a store, she tells him what to do. Both are complete id–ts! Now they have hired their daughter to work with them while they are firing good workers in the store. Looks like they would start cleaning at the top, but I guess that's what you should expect from an Iowa based company!

J–ie Fr-nck is a f-ing psycho. One minute he's trying to be your friend and the next he's stabbing you in the back. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. And I would like to throw him!

Hyde & Vredenburg are rolling in their graves right now. This is not what we're supposed to be. This is no longer a "family" feeling operation. We shouldn't be afraid to go to work every day. We have lost focus since Randy took the helm. Gone are the days when Ron Pearson would happy walk the stores, show interest in employees and say GOOD JOB! DVP's come in and tell us everything we're doing is wrong and tell you to do one thing. Your supervisor tells you to do another. Your director says something else. Who do we listen to?! Too many chiefs. Directors lost their jobs to cut salary yet I have a District Store Director and 2 co-managers...seems like they're paying more $ for the same outcome. I fear for what is coming next but I'm too chicken sh– to give up over 20 years of time spent with Hy-Vee for a childish CEO. Take care of your employees, they are your greatest assets. #VoteHimOut #GetBackToBasics
