@Fl0TqhE-3gtc Been at wholepaycheck for ten years too long, we've never been allowed to vote on any new team members. We were told that it was none of our business who the team leaders hired. Meanwhile our team leader spends forty hours a week working from home on the schedule. Shared fate? Core values??? So much corporate gibberish. What an absolute joke this corporation is. #wholefoodsmarket

Wow, tbx, thank you, this was really eye-opening. Almost every sentence in that article was inaccurate, some more so than others. Since WHEN has consensus decisions become common?? Maybe this was a thing in the 80s, but it ain't so now. I've worked at my store for six years and we never voted on anyone to our team (groc). I asked my tl about it once and he said it's a formality and most teams don't do it anyway. When I found out it was supposed to be happening I brought it up to the stl and that was a BAD move. Also, when do teams have a say in stuff being allocated to us from regional? Not once have I seen us say NO to this. I call this author a big old sham. If she worked in any department in any region at any store for a week she'd see something different, I'm sure.

@tbx: Thanks for the link! I continue to be stunned that journalists and editors continue to report anything coming from the "Great Places to Work Institute" (such as the Fortune survey) as if it were some kind of scientific research. It's not just BS, it's COMPLETE BS. Same goes for Glassdoor, which isn't a glass door at all, it's an opaque door. Because companies can (and do) flood the site with anonymous, highly laudatory reviews. The PR machine is always trying to get this idea out there that the company's management actually listens to what employees have to say and that we're involved in decision making on some deep level. Also, that we're all just thrilled with the atmosphere of inclusiveness and all the openness about salaries, opportunities. That may have been true 30 years ago. I hope everyone will take the time to email reporters and editors and educate them about the real company and about the phony "Great Places to Work" survey.

The Fortune 500 "survey" has previously been revealed to be a complete utter fraudulent public relations BS. The link was posted for a long time on Huffington Post somewhere around 2012-2013. However it's now impossible to find. Basically, companies pay a PR firm that creates the list to put them on the list. No smaller, unknown companies are ever on it. It's just advertising.

Finally the Truth exposed. The results of how this Kool Aid chugging corporation treats employees is out in the open. Employee horror stories on The Layoff for many months now. So sad, so true. What a mess of a formerly great employer.

Of course the WFM spokesman reiterated that we are a Fortune 500 company and that we have been on the list of top 100 companies to work for - for the last 18 years. I always wondered where that came from because we were so heavily monitored in our responses. I've heard of repercussions if you were at work, actually responding the the Fortune survey nonsense. I'd love to know their statistical data and how they arrived at this conclusion. I'm thinking that it's based on less than 10% of the company.

But then, if it's only Regional folks responding then well, he'll ya! Of course they are happy in fat salaries with little work!
