Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What will be the count after the current round of closings complete?

It's nigh impossible to sift through the umpteen posts of trolling and misinformation surrounding this. I figure that anyone talking of the future or other nonsense is trolling, extraordinarily stupid, and almost certainly both.

It's hard to believe Kenmore appliances the company can't deliver has any remaining value to the bottom line, The lone store in our area doesn't get any merch outside of mattresses (the two Craftsman aisles have a pitiful selection), and multiple stores that have been closed for years are in sorry shape in empty malls that probably don't even get a tenth of the foot traffic of their heyday. I peeked in one that's currently being used as a vaccination center, and it would probably cost a metric ton of cash to get up to code. There was a lot of black stuff which I'm 90% sure is mold. It's hard to believe that these will sell to raise cash when there are so many good spaces available during the pandemic.

Are there any well stocked Sears stores that are still profitable and doing business like it's still 2010? It would be nice to make a nostalgic final pilgrimage before the end if there's one somewhere within several hundred miles, because it's now a failed company in every conceivable way.

They are not going to dedicate a store manager (who typically gets paid above $100 Grand per Year) for 2 aisles of cereal and canned goods. It has a department manager, yes, but its all under the purview of the one Sears store manager. 10,000 sq feet is nothing. My house is 10 Times bigger than that silly department which just sells some cereal, and ketchup bottles as a silly novelty. Its part of Sears. End of discussion.

Nope. It doesn't have a separate store manager. Calling a tiny 10,000 sqft store a Kmart is like calling a 7-Eleven a supermarket.
Separate checkouts have nothing to do with it. When I go to a supermarket and buy Li---r they always make you pay at a separate checkout, that doesn't elevate the Li---r department to its own store. Only 21 remaining... end of discussion.

The Brooklyn Kmart is a real Kmart. Separate ordering systems... separate checkouts... dedicated store manager, separate store number. It's a Kmart pure and simple. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a full and complete Mo..n.

Brooklyn is a Kmart and it deserves to be respected as such. Wish they would make more Kmarts and Sears that way. Best of both worlds coming together. I love it.

Not listed in kmart.com. Brooklyn only listed on Sears.com. its a department of a store, not a store unto itself.

Tiny 10,000 foot Kmart sounds like we got our first Small Format Kmart store! We need more of these to pop up!

Also Malls will have multiple stores owned by the same owner too.

Also forever 21 isnt the same owner as the general mall. Sears, and all their various departments including that 10000 sq ft tiny kmart department, are all the same owner. Once again, Calling a tiny 10,000 sqft store a Kmart is like calling a 7-Eleven a supermarket. Real stores also have separate entrances. Separate checkouts have nothing to do with it. When I go to a supermarket and buy Beer, they always make you pay at a separate checkout, that doesn't elevate the Li---r department to its own store.

Yeah separate store number = separate store. Do you call a Forever 21 store that can only be accessed from entering the Mall first, "the mall" and not by the actual store name?

The Brooklyn Kmart has its own individual store number, so there’s that. Just because it’s a store within a store doesn’t make it any less of a store. 22!

Show me actual proof instead of a du-b photo. The store is not even on their website, so much for being verified. Calling a tiny 10,000 sqft store a Kmart is like calling a 7-Eleven a supermarket. It IS a real store. It is a Kmart. It is a Sears. It is a Kmart Sears! Two stores, better than one.

If Sam Walton had thought of putting Sam's Club and Wal-Mart together you would be praising its genius. Kmart + Sears = BFFs forever.

Who cares? I care! And so do many many others! Eddie f'n Lamert cares too! I trust the plan. Kmart and Sears will emerge victorious in the retail wars beating Amazon, walmart and Target. They already beat Frys Electronics and Toys R us. No one wants Walmart Jordache jeans when they can get Kmart Route 66!

Whoever is saying Brooklyn is not a Kmart because a Sears is very close by is wrong. It is a Kmart. It is a special Kmart because it gets to share a close space to its BFF Sears.

Now Sears Home and Life, those arent Sears stores. Who wants a small format Sears store. What's next Sears conveinence stores?
