Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

CA employee severance question

There's a rumor floating around that any tenure a CA employee accrued as a CA employee won't carry over after a year with Broadcom and that CA employees just become 1'st year Broadcom employee so that if laid off they wouldn't benefit from their time at CA for severance.

Can anybody confirm or deny if this is how Broadcom operates with acquisitions?

Whomever "Anon" is must not be based in the US. There is no law stating that severance has to be paid in any amount unless there is an employment agreement. US workers are at-will and have no contract.

Previously, employees received a lump sum payout (less taxes, of course). No accrual balance is maintained going forward.

Leave as early as possible. It's best for you.

Another stupid rumor. Send an email to the ask questions email box for a response on this if you are concerned. They are being answered quickly and the answer to this question is in the FAQ, so why is there a rumor to begin with the question was asked and answered. CA time or your previously acquired time at Wily for example will be honored when they fire you, which they will with almost certainty. Ask the Brocade people.

at least with classic broadcom, our years get carried over. Had folks getting laid off 1.5 yr after merger and new company honored the all #yr of service from classic broadcom+new company.
