I am p-ss-d off. Why tell us there are layoffs coming in the next few weeks without saying when or who? We are going to be stressed out and demotivated to work. So f—ing stupid. Just don't say anything at all until it happens.

There’s no way around it. Layoffs s—. Would you prefer management waited until the exact day and sprang it on people? Telling people right before the holidays could also come from a place of compassion too.
Would you rather let people go off carefree on holiday, splurge, run up debt (Maybe not the best time to put an in ground pool), and then walk head long into that? Or let people deal with the momentary stress and use that time to prepare?
I can personally attest that the level of stress and toll it puts on management is considerable. They’re not monsters, they are compassionate people and they don’t relish it at all. They get a double whammy, as they know it could impact them on top of the toll of thinking about their own people.
There are jobs out there, good jobs. Hiring is happening. Many of us can attest to that good reality. Be careful in your present situation, but dammit my friends, be proactive! Get moving it you aren't already! We can only help take care of each other at this point.
It seems the Bose way to give fragments of information and then let folks blow in the wind for a while. Recalling that preceding the 2019 reduction (GDE and many more) which began in Feb 2019, some folks were told in an all-hands, before Christmas 2018, it was coming. Left to stew over the holiday time and for around two months with the "can't say anything more" refrain from management. Something very perverse going on in that ongoing management style. Other instances of the same behaviors over the now many years of reductions.
But hey, we're all Bose family, right?
Until you're not. :(
I agree Bose would like people to quit by themselves so Bose does not need to offer a package.
Even if you wait until you are laid off, don't expect a big package. If you work 5 years, you may get about 6 weeks of pay.
The company is a sinking ship people. Everyone should be prepping resumes and getting tf out ASAP. Lots of lifers that have a hard time seeing the writing on a wall. It’s been sinking for years and is NOT going to turnaround. Even if you are one of the “lucky” ones this go around, there is no reason to stay.
It is a strange way of doing it as everyone then starts looking - unless perhaps Bose is hoping some people as a result will leave before and thus lessen need for layoffs. When you get let go they also often give you a few weeks before you are out which is both good and bad.
Just prepare and get your resume ready today. In fact start the process of looking elsewhere now. Yeah it s—s balls but take advantage with the few weeks you have. Who knows, you might find something better. Never let any one control your situation. Ever.
