Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum IT RIF ALL 2nd LEVEL SUPPORT

Yesterday most of the 2nd level techs were layed off. There are people who been with the company 20+ years let go. The last day is the week of March 17th. There is no way offshore techs can replace this brain drain. The top leader in Optum IT have not hire ant FTE’S everyone is contractors.

This is incredibly sad and short sighted!

If the system breaks down after 12 noon CST, and onshore tech has been RIFd, who will be awake to fix it? Should employees sit idle at their desk, and wait until the next day when the offshore tech teams are available? Loss of production equates to loss of money. Keep the onshore techs!!!

For my last 3 tickets, I have received zero help at level 1, some help at level 2 and always help at level 3. God help us if level 3 falls.

My son just got laid off and I can't believe they are only giving one week a year severance. In my experience severance from a Fortune 500 company is at least 1.5 to 2 weeks a year. What a slimy bunch they have in management and HR.

Hi time these dinosaurs are removed. The new generation has evolved and does not need this help desk.

Most of the complaints here are also by dinosaurs!! Reminds me of the dinosaurs that still go to the post office!

This is a business not a charity!

The executives have no idea how terrible our help desk and 2nd level is now because they have their own IT people waiting on them hand and foot. Have the executives call the help desk like a normal user I bet things change really quick then.

This has happened before, it will happen again. As the systems begin to fail, onshoring will commence.

As an independent contractor for 25yrs I have worked with India contractors before UHG. Nothing has changed, the vast majority are more self promoting than substance. I said it years ago and saying it now, Optum leadership is making a stupid strategic move and they will find out what many other companies learned 20yrs ago and need to onshore a few years from now! Let’s see whose heads roll then!!
