Thread regarding VMware layoffs

You're still not safe

Even if you got an offer, you're still not safe. If you're here after 12 months pass, then you can consider yourself safe. Until then, you still have a good chance of being shown the door. If you don't believe me, go read through the older CA Technologies threads. That'll make it clearer.

OP isn’t wrong, trust me. Ex-CAer here and that is very accurate. Day 1, Day 2 etc..

The firing policy will be based on metrics such that all who remain reflect the exact proportions of ethnicity and gender as in the general US population applied at all employee levels.

DEI dreams will come true!

Management by Fear - Most companies I've worked for this is the norm. Make or exceed your number your fine. If not your not.

"What I’ve heard:"

From a bloke down the pub who knows someone at his gym that knows someone who cuts Michael Dells hair

Whatever you've heard will be guesswork.

What I’ve heard:

‘‘Day 1’ - approx 25-30% layoffs
‘Day 2’ (April/May 2024) - approx 10-15% layoffs (most of these will be transitional roles)
‘Day 3’ (12-18 months after close) approx another 10-15% layoffs

So OP possibly isn’t wrong, worth considering if you get a letter and evaluating your options.

Tell us you didn't get an offer without telling us you didn't get an offer

The AVGO executive culture is to keep employees living in fear. They're not the only tech company that adopted this approach, but they perfected it. You are disposable.

"I don't work for sh-t companies with megalomaniac bosses."

You work for Dell - so your statement is suspect

The majority are technically unemployed. All VMware contracts are null and void. I think its quite obvious we are not safe. Personally don't care, I'll be leaving regardless. I don't work for sh-t companies with megalomaniac bosses.
