'Values Matter' a term loosely used @WFM on signs,t-shirts, brochures and more. Has anyone here thought about who is this in reference to? Is it products, the company or team members? My only take on this is that this is in reference to 'shareholder value' that 'matter most' @WFM. So, goodbye TL happiness and welcome to 'shareholder value' the new norm @WFM. Your thoughts??

I love Christmas music. But when I hear it at our store over the PA system I want to puke.
That values matter stuff was so depressing to me. Be a Thorn in Time's Side. What does that have to do with anything we sell? And if it does, why not promote it directly? Bunch of hee-haws running around upstairs. PLEASE wall street get rid of these clowns!!
I heard it was close to 52 million spent on the marketing campaign last year (commercials, radio spots). Which makes sense considering the positions cut during that time frame (SSS and SSIs being eliminated/combined, PBSs eliminated/combined, and in september with the thousands of people eliminated/combined), plus all the people who've quit in frustration/got fired for bogus or real reasons and haven't been replaced. Lots of savings in 'cost'.
It looks like we may have almost made up for the cost of the commercials guys!
typo in last message: should read televangelist/politician
That will go down as one of the dumbest, most useless ad campaigns ever created. The messaging was vague and pointless. It sounds like something a fundamentalist televangelis/politician would cook up for crying out loud. And the positioning makes no sense. Ok so values matter. What the **** does that have to do with Frankie's Olive Oil and Starkey Water? What's the big deal? If I get a conventional apple from you, how is that different from a conventional apple I get somewhere else? Another classic was the "We are Earthlings" campaign with all those weird looking models. That was only internal but it was still ridiculous. If you asked 10,000 random people what "Values Matter" means, probably exactly 0.00005 percent would say it has something to do with retailing and those that do would probably think it had something to do with a dollar store.
We live a lie
I cringe at the thought of that insanely arrogant commercial. I wonder how many millions they spent on such an obvious fail. #valuesdon'tmatter
I'm embarrassed to work for such a blatant house of cards.
I think customers would be disgusted by the values that actually matter to this corporation. At least Wal Mart doesn't pretend to be the second coming of Christ. #WFMteammember
I think most customers would be disgusted by the "values" that matter to this corporation. At least Wal Mart doesn't pretend it's Jesus. #WFMteammember
Values have never mattered to this vile corporation. #WFMteammember
Well put....6am meetings to preach their BS....bunch of ego maniacs without depth. What a JOKE those commercials were. ALL SMOKE AND MIRRORS!
Did we really have to get up at 5am and catch the bus to work for a 6am store meeting just to watch those stupid commercials??? How much money was wasted on that meeting nation wide??and what the hell took you so long to advertise in the firstplace???
They killed me when they added that crap about "stakeholders" and "creating wealth thru profits and growth" to the core values...you feel you life being drained by the vampiric powers of wall street from then on..who are they bullshitting with this stakeholders are employees...so those non- insured pt-20 team members that the corporation views as expendable are now stakeholders???
