Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

You should feel betrayed by Qualcomm Executives

I see that people are getting upset about all ‘whining’ on this board and I totally get it. At the same time I know so many people who made their bets on QC and spent a good chunk of their career here. In such a case, an individual is betting on the management and has certain expectations.

Now, with this BC debacle behind and ahead of us, It would be unreasonable to expect that people remain calm and collected. In fact, feeling frustrated and angry would be totally appropriate here – given the amount of executive missteps and the overall level of greed driven mismanagement, I’d expect workers to behave in a much less even keeled way. Oh, what they have done…

One more time... NOBODY "Spends a good chunk of their career" anywhere. They SELL it!

NOBODY owes you anything. Everyone would be much better served by getting this simple concept. It's business. Conduct and manage your career accordingly.

Everyone is emotional. I get it. Nobody will be able to completely separate emotions from work. But at least recognize and accept the fact that youare involved in a business transaction selling your services to a company. The company us not your family or friend. And it owes you nothing more than the compensation you agreed to sell your work for until the point that you, or the company, decides to end the relationship.

And, by the way, Q is fairly generous in compensation packages for those laid-off.

And lastly, I was laid-off myself in 2015, so I know what it's like. Grow the F up.

Work is planned on 'shareholder value'. Lack of good ideas for new products ? Then give the $$$ back to shareholders. Dont waste $$$ on yet more #whywait ; logos and mergers.

Talent ? Nope. Too costly. We need cheap cheap cheap crap. Thats what shareholders demand. "ship the sh--, book the revenue".

Hopefully the sr managememt folks wake up to the fact that we shouldn't plan work purely based on cost. We should plan diligently to deliver efficiently and cost effecively with the global teams based on their talents, setup, and not on politics and pure cost.

Hopefully the industry could all learn from this.....and not to make the same mistake. Good luck to us all.
