Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It just gets worse, when we were just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Some of us go to work with the hopes that Intel will get a lucky break and things will stabilize. Some of my coworkers are great to work with, and I've worked for some great managers. We were starting to see a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel and the light had now gone out again. I'm thinking that HR will let lay me off this year, as I now fall within the rule of 75.

Before layoffs, this raffle lunch with CEO box would be overflowing. Now? Three lunch receipts in the box a month into the raffle started. Morale is dead.

@s0 are you referring to a box to take your personal belongs home? That might be the only provided package.

@rk 20 years ago Motorola fabs had already been divested into Freescale semiconductor which has since gone out of business after several buyouts, an IPO, and finally a merger with NXP.

The main difference with Motorola is that Intel will regain relevance after China reclaims Taiwan in the next few years. No matter how bad Intel might be they will be the best option for US companies.

Any advice on package negotiations?

Intel is in the downward spiral that Motorola fab was into 20 years ago. All upper management knows how to do is layoffs and scaring people into working more hours. No leadership or innovation last 20 years, everything they tried outside of x86 failed. LBTs “laser focus on this and that “ is useless talk. Only thing they know that will keep Intel afloat is scare the govt into thinking Intel is too big to fail. But it has already failed. Middle management just know to go to back to back meetings and ask what is the status of this or that and when is xyz getting done. In Intel culture, they became managers by being good at bullying and intimidation, not innovation or inspiration. You think Intel is going to suddenly improve culture overnight?

Many comments here really do explain why Intel is on a death march to oblivion. Stay at Intel at your own peril.

@ OP

I told you to jump the sh---y sinking ship 5 years ago. Why are you coming back here saying it is getting worse every quarter?

@a3 I was laid off in 2020 with a decent severance package and didn't fully realize how miserable I was at Intel until I walked out the door for the last time. Life's been better since.

While I do miss the Golden Handcuffs (good pay and benefits), I don't miss the politics and watching first hand the damage management was doing to the company. Nothing I could say or do would stop it.

@a3 What if I have a small package? Can I have some of yours? Is it too late? Can it be salvaged? A foot long would change my life and hobbies. I would credit INTC in my OF “About”.

Hey,
Do not be afraid.
Intel today is not intel of the 90s.
I took VSP at 2024 after over 25 years at intel. Its the best decision I did in my life.
Life is much happier in many aspects.
If you have a package this year, dont think twice, take it.

Good luck
