@a4 so when exactly is the whole cmo team to be shaken ?
@br Good point, worst part is Kyle still around and Sampath not lol. Color matters lol
I’m not a Sampath fan and it has long been time for him to hit the bricks. It is odd that we have the best quarter in 5 years or whatever it is, and then you sack him. Then you give him a hug in front of the entire company.
It was uncomfortable enough to see him all hunched and curled into himself, then drag him onstage for a hug. WTF is that? I don’t have any sympathy for the C-suite game of thrones players, but that was degrading AF.
On the flip side, we now have an all hands precedent set, so in the next all hands we will be at the edge of our seats to see who gets the next hug.
@b4 next up
Verizon should stop listening to & hiring consultants and stop advancing the same leaders internally. Just look at the history. 360, AOL, Yahoo, Terremark, etc. PS, I’m a happy former employee.
Kyle is also useless
@aw Roger Entner is ridiculous stating Sampath is great ,...... good luck to the next company stupid enough to hire him
“Sampath ran the group that incurred the losses. When you run a group, the CEO has to take responsibility. He ran the group during the time when performance was not awesome. He’s partially responsible for that too. Success and the lack of it catches up with you,” Entner told Fierce.

One thing is for sure. Sampath doesn’t have to worry too much about paying the rent. “All of these people fall soft,” Entner said. “None of them have to file for unemployment.”

Sampath was behind the price increases that drove customers away. Dan has said that it doesn’t make sense to increase prices without providing additional services in return. (Duh!)
Sampath must have skipped the Econ 101 lecture on Price Elasticity of Demand.
Verizon’s previous leaders were very impressed by him since his days consulting for them while at Boston Consulting Group. His performance has been thoroughly unimpressive.
@a1 I don't think people hate Sampath, however, people are questioning what he has done for company, What are the things he has accomplished that many other in VZ couldn't do? Many would say, isn't easy just to make things up, be on the stage with Hans and just jump around while making millions a year, people are simply asking why?
BTW, Sampath is the winner here, got millions for doing nothing.
Happy for Sampath !! VZ racists deserve the new grifter that’s gonna make stock soar by selling chunks of business. Has zero plans!
Scampath was a useless snake oil salesman
someone from the top had to be the scapegoat for the company’s problems
Does he get to keep his $4m retention bonus?
@a1 99% of people on here don't even have the slightest idea what someone like him does. i wouldnt read too much into it, they won't like the next person either
@a2 The hug looked like "I know it was you Fredo!"
Point to a single strategic decision he made, that was right. He was a bad strategist. A bad leader.
Because people here are racist
Yes Dan let him down easy but when the camera focused on him you could tell he wasn’t comfortable, judging by the body language.
I’m newer to the company, why do people not like him? I don’t have an opinion because I don’t know anything about him lol
