Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Tech complainers. Action beats complaining every time.

All you tech folks, if you don’t like the way the company is ran or the salary you are getting, then get off of the train. There couldn’t be anymore of a solid words of advice than those spoken by Jane Fraser. “If you don’t like it, then get off of the train.” Even if you don’t like her, her words ring very true and have great merit. If things rub you the wrong way, then leave. If you don’t like your world, then change your world. Start interviewing like there’s no tomorrow and leave at the first decent offer.

Due to the fact that corporate America is now dominated by monopolies, there is no such thing as being justly rewarded for good effort and the ability to find a non demeaning environment. The monopolies do not want a fair playing field. If the government let these companies fail and stopped giving them tax breaks and other incentives that enable them to become these dominating monopolies, whether or not they can actually succeed based upon the quality of their work, then maybe we could find fair employment.

The YouTube clip of Office Space & Gibbons is a perfect summary of Citibank's employee life as AVP:

  1. A lot of SVPs pestering you around about PTS updates, or Workday, or emails asking for any absurd action threatening you with escalation.
  2. Because of 1) few time focused on real work.
  3. No motivation at all to work harder, no bonus, no salary arises.
  4. 1) is the side effect of one organization bloated with directors and SVPs that need to justify their big salaries and bonuses simulating they do something like a real work, adding a lot of extra work to the AVP miserable life.

as an individual complaining, it falls on deaf ears, and possibly getting fired by some shady move from HR. as a group, maybe, but many dont want to compromise their jobs.

Are employees truly unable to advocate for better environments and wages? This post is absurd. Without identifying the issues, nothing will improve.

I have a lot of years in at this company and I won’t leave until they give me a package. I’ll just gladly sit around every day doing nothing and collect an easy paycheck.

Thanks for the advice. I did It exactly 1 month ago. No more sleepless nights, no more stomach heatburns, no more calls with angry internal clients asking for a miracle for Yesterday.

Hope you will enjoy your advice when the IT folks that will try to help you will be the SVPs who have no bloody idea of what It is going on because the AVPs and VPs, the minions, have left the sinking boat.

I’ve heard for 8 years, “don’t look for a job now, the job market is bad”. If not now, when?
When the recession is over you’ll hear, “don’t look for a job now, the job market is flooded with applicants”. Four months from then you’ll hear, “don’t look for a job now, all the good ones are taken.” Four more months past that, “don’t look for a job now, its the end of the year and every company is just posting ghost postings.” A few months after that, “don’t look for a job now, the market is flooded with applicants.”

If not now, when?

Hello, $hitibank HR ! According to the Labor Laws AND the NLRB, employees are permitted to complain about salaries, work/job conditions, etc..

If $hitibank HR and/or the $hitibank Legal Dept. does Not like what it reads and sees on this Forum-Site, then LEAVE. Do Not visit this Site !

Get Off the wwww.thelayoff.com Train and remain on the $hitibank Train FUBAR Wreck! $hitibank is on its way to Bankruptcy anyway and will get more Consent Orders and MRIAs because it collects these like a Numismatist or Pihilatelist. $hitibank has Never been Not under Consent Orders in all of its existence.

Have you seen the job market????
Have you seen how unpredictable the economy is at the moment ?

This is the time to buckle down and survive, not make big life changes. Changing jobs means, 401k rollover, new health plan, learning the new environment and business, with the possible chance of layoff on the unstable economy.
