Su-ks to be in sales I guess...

VP's/managers/etc... can tell their directs to go in 5x8's all they want but, unless/until it's OFFICIALLY stated by HR that this is a policy, nobody can be fired for not abiding by the 5x8's; as the official policy as it stands today is that those deemed "on-site" must go into office 5 days/week; though how long you stay is not defined nor enforced.

I personally don't see Dell requiring a 5x8 though. At least not until there are NO remote employees left at Dell...

@a1

Sales has become the least attractive place to work in the company right now. High admin burden, shrinking compensation, nonstop micromanagement, and the most aggressive RTO policies in the biz. Happy Days are back again!

@cr The only relevant thing dell has done in the last 30 years is buy other companies and ruin them.

How about Dell worry about revenue and being relevant instead?

5x8 sounds great vs 7x24 at home

@a3 Is this sales specific? Santa Clara isn’t a sales office like the other three. By ‘office thinning’ do you mean closures? I seem to recall rumors on here that OKC may close, but having people there 5x8 would point to the opposite.

I've been saying it for months. RTO 5x8. Use PTO for appointments, make arrangements for child care, just like the rest of us. #vindicated

Dell has become a them vs us situation.

They're testing the backlash with a stricter RTO and office thinning coming next month for the new fiscal.

3 main branches, Nashville, Austin, and OKC/or Santa Clara will count as main offices, everyone else will be put in the remote bucket for future promo and internal move considerations.

Moreover, the VP in the article is on the chopping block and is trying to save her job.
