Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Lip Bu wasn’t brought in to save the company

He was brought in to break the company up into pieces to be sold out. He has zero interest in actually saving the company.

They will sell the company out piece by piece until there is nothing left and he will get a huge bonus for doing so.

Why would that even matter. THE Name on the pay check doesn't matter.

@br: I remember differently. Qualcomm and Broadcomm were willing to flirt but nobody wanted to dance. In specific particular Broadcomm wanted our IP but not even Prodco beyond that and NOBODY wanted to touch Fabco. We couldn’t sell under those conditions.

A layoff that involves cutting divisions — which we are doing too — is preparation for a brighter one Intel future. Getting rid of the weakest performers over and over is just playing Jenga.

If he really wanted to do that, they could have sold to Qualcomm and Broadcom and Tsmc several months ago and not even bothered to hire another CEO. Intel trading at it near book value. They could part it out right now if that's really what they wanted to do.

LBT will not save Intel. So far, only selling and cutting. No real technical strategy. 18A vs 14A is just their tricks to full the majority and social media. Both are failing or 5-10 years away.

With the billions PG wasted on building fabs for customers that did not exist and DEI, Lip Bu has no choice but to fire 50% and break up intel at cents on the dollar.

OP, aka the LBT Troll, doesn't seem to realize that no one cares about LBTs ambitions, or some hypothetical future where Intel is saved, or not.

Keep in mind that eventually, the Sun will turn into a red dwarf and incinerate the Earth.

All that matters before than is to get Intel functioning at a more profitable level than has been the case in at least a decade, and he is definitely doing that.

IFS, for example, is best served by selling the older fabs to pay off debt and reduce the org to just EUV fabs.

It doesn't matter if IFS is sold or not after that.

Same with Prodco. Shed the non-performing groups and products. Do it for its own sake, and that makes Prodco more valuable whether it is sold or not.

Everything he is doing makes the whole company better, regardless of what happens down the road.

Lipbu is doing what will make the shareholders happy. I have a feeling he will be selling something or do some shared venture where another company will take over some fabs.

If that increases shareholder value, then he is obligated to do that.

The CEO is accountable to the board and the board is accountable to the shareholders - ie - the OWNERS of the company.
