@fc I’m assuming Ford ended up firing the employees that were found to have been outsourcing their work & brought this team from India on board (WFM of course) for a fraction of the cost? If not, they should bring me on as strategy manager 😂

Doug Field is a fraud. He failed out of Tesla and Apple and couldn't get any another executive job so he came here. He takes $15 million per year, creates billions in losses for the company, sc--ws up the rest of the company's bonuses, and works from his California mansion while telling us to go to the office every day.
Some folks have been naive: arrangement for 3 days, let's say Mo, Tu, We. When they have dentist etc on Tuesday, they don't come that day AND don't compensate for it. Now wonder about the email they got. And those lazybones from 5-10-15 minute commute.
Kindergartners have more freedom.

Be advised that snooping is a very small part of the job. A long time ago we set up anomaly reports which are only emailed to us if they are not empty. The reports are augmented over time. You know keep the bad guys out kinda deal, it’s just that bad actors are sometimes employees.

That's probably what they're hoping for, regardless of the overall impact to the company. If they can cut headcount and boost stock price temporarily, that's a win to them. They know they wont be around too much longer, might as well cash in.
@ew On fuel alone it costs an additonal $5360 for me, and many others would be similar I suspect. That just fuel...Wear and tear, time spent completely unproductive, clothing, dependant care, etc..
If their plan was to have empoyees spend a few extra thousand per year to do the same work they were doing yesterday, the company probably should have kept up with pay. Base merits have been even with COLA for years, When the performers start adding up what it costs to stay, they'll start looking around.

Having worked in networking and infrastructure at FoMoCo for a long time I can tell you that “log” records are cut as a matter of course on all the computing platforms as you do work. Those records include your originating IP address. And yes reports can be produced showing who did what, where, how and when. This is nothing new. Management asks for various reports.
Multiple times we uncovered scams where Ford employees were paying a friend (not employed at Ford) to do their coding. How did we discover this you might ask? Well a group of employees were observed to be logged on from multiple continents. For example Suresh was logged on from India for hours 04:00-07:00 and then logged on from Dearborn from 08:00-17:00. Assuming Suresh didn’t teleport, he had given his credentials to someone in India. We collected evidence for a month- and gave it to the LL4 and LL5. The LL6 was in on the scheme. One guy in India was logging on and coding for seven Indian Employees in Dearborn. The team of seven was filing false OT which the LL6 (also Indian) was approving and they gave that money to the chap in India. SMH
The “log” records have different retention periods. If someone has taken an interest in you, records pertaining to your userids are copied to long term retention. It surprises me how many people are unaware that we know what files you read/modify/delete; what websites you visit; etc. Yes, managers have asked for reports to justify firing people for visiting NSFW sites during the workday.
@e2 I brought my own power strip to the office the last time I was there because there are never enough outlets, and definitely none that are conveniently located. It's a joke.
I have news for you all. They were always tracking where you were connected. No one believes me but I know for a fact that Ford has an entire computer forensics team in the basement of the glass house. Met someone that was hired for there in the company orientation a few years ago.
Nothing you do on your work devices is unseen. They know.

@cq+1jykp24mh Smoking the same weed than Ferriss, I see. What is called "knowledge workers" or "white collar professionals" benefit also from collaboration and require a lot of effort put into it. There is nothing wrong per se with going to the office. A team of motivated and smart people can collaborate very well.
The issue here is how Ford is even dropping the ball with this. There is no collaboration at Ford. More like credit stealing, backstabbing, and internal power struggles. Regular workers don't want to be involved with that. Then the facilities suxx big time, there is no assigned desks, not even assigned areas for each team. Moreover, a lot of the time is lost in meetings, and these meetings happen with other teams, including people in other countries. Therefore, workers spend a big chunk of their time trying to listen in the middle of so many conversations/meetings happening simultaneously. All the advantages of "collocation" are missed by Ford due to the way they do it, leaving the workers frustrated and feeling miserable.
I am not sure if RTO is part of the "disconnect" between the C-suite and reality, or they are just going on with it due to political reasons, for attrition purposes or just because they like to play "follow the leader".
Remember, RTO is to gruntle the commercial real estate investors and their bankers, and cities looking for revenue. That it costs the company more and you more doesn’t matter as long as the Big Guys set the example for the little businesses.
Also, psychopaths need to see the pain on the faces of their reports. They exist to inflict pain.

Collaboration is key, that is the reason for the updated policy. Especially with the highly technical features demanded by today's and tomorrow's nobility customer.
@ed Until now, I would have needed more money to drive to GM 3 days per week. Now, that they want us to come to the office 4 days a week, strictly enforcing it, and taking away a lot of the flexibility, I would go to GM or other companies even if there wasn't much of a pay increase.
@cg+1jykp24mh GM is already at mandatory 3 days in the office. So you'll have to drive to the Warren tech center 3 times a week.
Our EBIT will not improve until we are focused on engineering our components, subsystems and vehicles instead of 80% of our time engineering our processes to deliver those items.
The amount of process related non-value added activities is mind-numbing.
Of course they are taking steps to boost resignations and firings. They want to reduce the number of employees counted as layoffs, as high numbers can trigger public disclosure requirements and negative press.
They want all the employees close to retirement whose primary residence is no longer metro Detroit to retire/resign. They also want a 20% general attrition rate. Because as we know all Ford cogs are equal so it doesn’t matter which 20% leave. LOL
The end result will be the d-mbing down of the employee ranks, the best will leave.
Correction: Looks like it is hidden in a TWA policy change, not the policy they sent out about work Arrangement.
There is nothing in the policy about TWA being in the office for all hours.
In the end the funniest thing about this, after all the dust is settled, you execs get your way and the sheep will come into work. But the ones with actual brains will just fu--ing leave , yes the ones who add value. Because you guys can't see behind the deceit, and see what is actually going on . This company is systematically fu---d. Good bye

Read the policy..earlier today i beleive it said must be in office full day must swipe badge... may be allowed 1 day remote. TWA must be in office all working hours.
@ay I can tell you that LL6 is nothing more than a GSR with a louder voice. You couldn't give me an EV so I don't take a lease, and it's just as expensive as a new car payment. The only upside is a new one every year (maybe) and paid insurance. We also are over ridden when we evaluate our people, and "highly recommended" to sc--w someone. It's honestly not worth it take a LL6 position. I hear that 5's aren't much different.
"WFH allowed my productivity to skyrocket" <== this is the justification of HC reduction for WFH. We need only (1/skyrocket) current WFH HC.
I'm trying to understand the issue here. Most are already coming into the office 3 days a week. One extra day in the office is meh but okay we can manage.
Perhaps we can do 4x10 in the office and take Friday off. I heard this was the case before COVID.

Neither is JF who thinks he knows everything but has failed to deliver anything since he was hired. Sorry to sat it but Ford is beyond fixing right now. BF destroyed his great GF company.
They need to get rid of all the stupid romper room furniture and have actual desks for people to sit at with private space. The open office concept and couches no one sits at is ridiculous and was a giant waste of money!! One cannot concentrate and get work done in a call center environment.

I am told you jave to be on the network minimum 4 hours.
Honestly the building we jave been assigned to 1 day a week is never full even though all the teams they assigned to it on the same day should make it difficult to find a seat. Its at best 25 percent full so I think this os punishment for the ones that didnt come in one day a week. They promised dearborn a sizeable workforce so ford can get a tax incentive so now its 4 days a week.
No idea what building we are sitting at since every day of the week it's different teams in that building. I think ford has less buildings than before the pandemic but I could be wrong. Some might still jave a slew of f150s parked in the lot
