Just ask HR and her team, but she can’t be fired. KCC if this is what you call DEI in action, then count me out.

NC and JW cut from same mold.
Even her short-lived culture committee for the marketing team died quickly.
Less than 4 months and only one effort. The infamous wellness bingo cards. “Take a moment to eat an apple while plowing through that 60 hour work week comrades!”
Good to identify the culture needs an improvement. Tone death on how to take meaningful actions to improve it.
We’re stuck with JW until she is dumped this summer/fall when her 3 year contract nears it end and she realizes it won’t be renewed.
Given how quickly things went south with ME when he fell out of favor with the rest of the C-suite in his final year, expect a reign of te---r by this dictator in Q1 & Q2 when she’s no longer getting her way.
Budgets will get slashed for 2024 as the first sign. This discussion is already in play.
Expect a few parts of the department and major projects to get slashed entirely in Q1.
Promotions are gone, just horizontal moves into new roles with no new pay — or ‘stretch projects’ for ‘growth towards an upcoming promotion’ to prove yourself, and that promotion will never come because “the team’s priorities and strategy has changed for the new year — but great job and your efforts are so valuable to the team!”
Expect to hear “you’re at the top of your pay band so we cannot increase your salary for cost of living or merit” in the annual performance review. Despite San Diego now being rated the most expensive city in CA this year.
And remember your managers can reduce your API bonus as well despite good performance reviews.
Q2 is when she will get desperate, if she has not smartly lined up her next role. Remember, this woman’s talent is marketing herself and herself only.
As the job market rebounds in Q1, expect a big exodus. There’s no reason to wait for the March bonus in these conditions. Plenty of us were holding out hope to be laid off this week, in order to buy time looking for our next role under the severance pay.
How is she still there? With all the ethics complaints and yet we RIF people who know our business and who care!
At least Marketing Bingo is over. That Culture Committee activity sure helped improve morale.
Heard her in person office party was postponed next week. Sure you all were looking forward to more forced Miley Cyrus Flowers dance parties and other forced boosting of her ego.
Because when they do document the ethics violations they, are shortly removed from TDC or paid off to keep quiet. This will come out in the open before too long as the board will be eventually implicated, as well as our weak CEO and his grinning HR side kick.
If the diversity hire is that bad, why aren’t employees gathering documentation and calling the press and the ACLU? Teradata “management” won’t do anything because they are woke id--ts. So, fend for yourselves.
The Ethics training course sure motivated me to come here to check for updates
Could you ask your HR partner how many people who left marketing were paid off to cover up JW's unethical behavior? Ticking time bo-b.
Breakdown… or just sick of the dictator’s BS and incompetence?
Good for him for having the means to move on. We’re the ones who lost out, not him. A win for him.
What is disgusting to me is that JW has her leadership team telling their employees that WV departure was due to him being overwhelmed and making it sound like he had a mental breakdown. Anyone that worked with WV or his VP SK knows how smart and competent both of them are and how frustrated he must have felt dealing with such incompetent counterparts like ZR and AO who are JW “yes men” but don’t actually know how to do their job. Wi--y left because he was too good for this place and he will land somewhere far better if he hasn’t already. He was the only hope for Teradata marketing. It is clear that HR and our CEO are aware of the bad behavior of JW but they are complicit by choosing to do nothing. Sad state of affairs in marketing where bullying and gas lighting have become the norm. People would be thrilled to be laid off is the general consensus.
I bet it’s fun to watch JW’s a$$ kissing directors and up turning themselves inside out trying to keep their jobs while plotting the layoffs of the actual producers. They deserve every ulcer they get. 😄
I hope VP WV’s departure today was his choice…
A couple more violations reported. Ask your HR partner and watch them squirm trying to deny it. KCC and SM you are now complicit.
Every entity must take a lump for the cause.
How? DEI
Ringing of the bell at nyse. Wasn't that the most notable ever done?
Why is this person still here? What value has she or her BFF's delivered?
Wow - how does this person keep her job? I guess it really does not matter much since Teradata has never really done effective Marketing. Her predecessor came up with "Stop Buying Analytics!" which must be the worst marketing for a company in the data and analytics industry ever. Kind of like Coors saying "Stop Buying Beer!"
Adam Grant nails this one today:
“When you burn people out, you push them out. Stars are the first to leave—they have the most opportunities.
The solution is not to pile on the perks. It’s to pinpoint the root causes of overload and design more manageable jobs.
If you want to keep people, stop exhausting them.“
On the monthly project call (or as we in marketing like to call it “easily by far our favourite and most valuable call of the month”), the marketing team spent our morning discussing how we can game wellness bingo.
Thankfully I now know that if I eat an apple while I go for a walk to call someone and tell them I appreciate them, I can hug a tree on the way back AND tick off four at once!
I actually think I’ve worked out a way to fit the whole bingo card in to one day! That way I don’t have to let all this wellness get in the way of my 60 hour week, those unrealistic objectives won’t take care of themselves!
It was a shame to hear the bingo card will change next month. I’ll need a new plan to minimize the impact of my wellness on my work. Luckily I’ll have plenty of time to think about it, Possible is going so well this year that I think I can afford to take it easy for a while!
No disrespect to the individuals working on the bingo card but this is only adding insult to injury
It is the digital equivalent to slapping on a pizza party bandaid for a ‘the beatings will continue until morale improves’ situation
“You’re all working so hard and we wanted to make sure you all take a moment to think about how you can serve yourself with a healthy activity like eating an apple or taking a walk.. and reward you for taking that time for yourself”
Tone deaf is correct. SMDH
Marketing team created a Culture Committee. Their first team wide act is setting up a bingo challenge. A wellness bingo challenge.
Instead of spending time addressing real problems with real solutions. Instead of making real change to workload and priorities in order to improve work life balance and focusing on only the work that will move the needle, employees had to waste real time on a creating a bingo card? That’s how they think they will improve culture?
We have swung from the being treated like sorority sisters with the Miley Cyrus Flowers dance party, to 80 year olds? Wow. Just wow. The tone death aloofness continues and multiplies.
Anybody still in marketing simply can’t do any better or are biding their time hoping they can get another company to forget they worked at this turkey and will hire them.
Everything under JW has gone to sh-t. The good people left because they had better options than to be routinely denigrated by her while spewing lies and things she just makes up on the spot.
CT may have a history of being harsh but he is flicking brilliant and should have been made CMO- he just knows better and wants to outlast the typical C Suite.
ZR, AO, AU, etc. are all in jobs they don't have the skill set or experience for.
The programs that were at one tone a success have all sunk under JW...
It's content craziness over there too. Takes forever to get new content approved. Seismic went to he-l...she ki-led it because she doesn't know what she's doing. Anyone who knew what they were doing has left.
But at least they have a black woman on the ELT. After all, that's what's most important.
The reason there are so many views on this string is that JW looks at it every ten minutes. Narcissist. Nothing else to do.
It’s like putting lipstick on a pig.
JW just leave.
JW is a problem but it´s the whole management at this place that tolerate, accepts, and ultimately condones the behavior. It´s not just in marketing ... look at engineering...
HA and DS, being two of the most sly vindictive executives around, training others in their image and if anyone speak up, they will orchestrate their departure one way or another. They cannot have anyone that knows what´s going on around, remember RG? and many others laid off recently? The people reporting to them are promoted on the basis of how often they brown nose. Just look at all the recent promoted SVP, VP, and directors in engineering and ask around if they are competent, what accomplishments, and if they can be trusted when layoffs come. All of them have no honor and will say and do anything to remain relevant. Again, under the protection of the ELT.
Her comments at the all-hands are laughable. She is a narcissist who brought in incompetent bu-t-kissers who have no idea how to manage the roles they were hired for. ZR was a writer and should have stuck with it, he has no idea what he is doing leading a team and is possibly the worst VP Teradata marketing has ever seen. He makes CT look like a shining star. ZR has a fragile ego and just makes up words to fill space. He is late to everything, a complete slob, and talks in circles never actually arriving at a point. Has no idea how to manage strategically and his directs think he is a joke. Actually, everyone thinks he is a joke. AO has never actually managed events which is comical but it clearly shows since everyone TD does is a train wreck. It's a house of cards and everyone is trying to get out before it topples.
Wow, Teradata has ~7000 employees and this thread has 3722 views. I assume most of these 3722 were either current or ex Teradata employees. JW seems to generate lots of interests and some very strong opinions. She is probably the most controversial ELT.
Look at her. What did you expect?
Tone deaf, narcissist, what else would you expect?
This post must have struck a nerve, as J W spent several minutes of her marketing all hands quarterly meeting last week boasting about the praise a male board member gave her after some recent meeting. Praise focused on her. Not what marketing has done.
Cool. We have plenty of actual work to discuss and do, but please do go on with your extended self promotion.
HR is very aware of the situation, and as someone has mentioned, KCC and SM have painted themselves into a corner. This minority hire is untouchable and shows that the ELT condones abhorrent behavior by not doing anything about it. So much for our so-called values with the recent focus on trust. These actions or non-actions corrode and erode trust.
Everyone is talking about the JW situation, and it is now reflecting poorly on SM, KCC, and the BOD.
How do you know this hasn't been tried?
If JW is so bad and destroying the marketing team morale, perhaps whoever works in marketing should file a complain to HR and write a letter to BoD. Even if nothing was done, you are likely to be saved for the next round of layoff because it would be a good case to argue for retaliation.
HR and SM are too scared to do anything for the apparent reason. They have backed themselves into a corner, and her employees will be the ones who suffer and, frankly, anyone who has to deal with her. This minority hire has not just backfired but has surely blown up in their faces.
I’m confused. Why won’t anyone buy her flowers?
JW's personal website still shows that she is still at IBM. Is she ashamed to put Teradata on there, or just not keeping it updated? Not that it really changes anything. IBM, Teradata, Oracle, The Brady Bunch, President Reagan, AOL, Sears and Roebuck, Kodak, and Pong......
Sad that professionals have to endure this kind of behavior. She is downright negative and disrespectful. She thinks she is right all the time and puts down her direct reports.
If anyone had spent an hour with the diversity hire, they might have seen how toxic she is. The only good thing is her direct report are being ground through the mill. That’s fun to watch. A$$ kissing has lost its power for the directors
