Heard from a friend who is a Sr. Staff/Mgr that they are targeting 1000 layoffs in San Diego. My manager already told me that there is another round coming up and he mentioned one name already impacted.
Any details guys ?

@5hmk , did you say "flatten the hierarchy" or "fatten the hierarchy" ? I think that's happening, it's pretty obvious every time they post a video.
Does this mean all the "Top employer" banners are coming down. I always found it funny that a company that was proven to systematically under pay and under title women trumpet how they are an advocate for womens rights and equality.
Companies like Qualcomm can be full of dead weight because all the investors are passive retirement funds trying to get exposure to Semiconductors, just like Intel. It's a massive gravy train that is allowed to happen because there is no serious investores like the ones invested in FAANG taking a hard look at the income statements.
These parasites will take their fill, retire to their median lifestyle having never delivered anything significant and the company will survive on royalties because there is little disruption in such a mature industry.

Yep, i was informed yesterday. I am out in May. Hearing same thing as above +1,000 employees in San Diego. Have to manage OPEX to get execs bonus.

How would a Sr staff know this? ? Director is the minimum level to hear some things

Heard from one source that the last day is April4. From another source it is just before May20 (before vesting date) ...
The dates and numbers are correct. Targeting HR, Legal, and Marketing departments. April 15th is a Saturday so probably the 14th as they prefer to notify those being cut before a weekend. It is very ugly right now.

Since the fruit company came to SD years ago, some significant changes have happened to Q including big salary increase to catch up and brain drain to the fruit company.

Situation seems pretty tense across multiple modem orgs. I’m pretty sure our team would be impacted. It is pretty awful to see people slinging mud over junior members just so they can survive this round of layoffs.
