Huge lay offs

Situation changing very fast, now I expect bigger layoffs as drowning economy, banning chip export to China.

To reduce headcount (after massive ramp-up over the last 3 years) and to “avoid involuntary layoffs,” HR employees were offered a voluntary package which includes a few months of severance and in the US paid cobra benefits for 18 months. Apparently a bunch of people took the package. No involuntary layoff needed for this group, for now.

QCA has so much fat inside and very inefficient. Not sure why Q keeps that kind of business with very small margin.

Dont worry. There is a chip shortage. At least thats what the car salesman was saying. We will be ok. Chips are very hard to come by these days. We will all be billionaires because of this chip shortage. Bhwahhahaha

The only reason QCAs still around is the fruit company. When they go, QCA expensive campus goes. Don’t worry, anyone relocating to SD will have their choice of good offices after the useless SD CEs get their packages.

Meta is laying off another 10k - so things are changing fast…. Will Qualcomm follow Meta’s lead and have more layoffs?

If it was changing very fast because of that market would have reacted by now. Calling out BS on this.

@2zng. I wasn't saying there are only a few toxic people. I'm sure there are many. I'm saying people in a position of power can make a lot of people under them miserable, they can affect a lot of people. That is in addition to non-managers making co-workers miserable.
I certainly wasn't saying 'why complain so much'. And I've had your experiences, with HR, with zero results.

Is QCA safe? Back in 2018, SVP's and above even discussed the possibility of not having QCA. Hope they don't reconsider it.

@2wss+1lACx5aU guess you have not been emotionally abused at qcom. Try working under an abuser for two years, with HR telling you they don't find anything wrong, or lack of evidence, or there is nothing they can do. Try acting like a decent person in front of a coworker who likes to bully or diminish others, with HR telling you the same thing or they couldn't find witness, or you and the bully spoke a different language so the other people at the scene didn't understand so can't be your witness. Then online someone tells you just one or two people who are toxic, why complain so much? Why can't you just report them to HR?

Its really amazing how a few bad apples can spread so much misery to so many people. I feel sorry for the people who are affected by these Sr Dirs and VPs that clearly have personal and personality issues. Maybe they were abused growing up.

Economy going downhill is a macro situation. Other companies have been affected more by layoffs so far. Just that Qualcommers past and present whine about it more.
