CL 29 - default potential for all MPT employees when they start
CL 27 - If you are assessed Good or below early on, this is where you’ll end. Maybe a ‘Principal’ position to end your career. You’ll make $300k
CL 28-29 - Is where majority of mid tier performers will retire. An ‘Excellent’ rating here or there can help you get to 29 but of you average very good then you’ll retire CL 28/29 earning maybe $350k
The prior categories have a joke in the name of RSUs given to them. like 100-200 RSUs that vest over 3 and 5 years, 50% each year. Think about it, its really a joke.
Now CL 30 and above are junior executive positions. Those pegged at POT 34 end up in 30, 31 or similar and make $500k with mentionable number of stocks, like 1000 units and above. Now what gets interesting is that these positions also get some sort of bonus tied to their goals, which is why they just manipulate the he-l out of their subordinates and the organization to absolutely do what they are told to deliver from their masters above.
This in my view is the root of toxic middle management, the crazies who were bulloed at school and have zero other things in life going for them — who can do anything to prove they arr worth something. They are the hitman of the ExxonMobil mafia and they are trying to be made men/women. The pyschopaths.
Those with CL 35 and above were always POT 38+, but of course even they wont all keep moving up. These people do have something differentiating, whether it is not caring for what toll their miserable life takes on their family, or it is the ability to intimidate or the ability to be a robot who is emotionless, stab your ‘teammates’ in the back, play race or DEI card shamelessly — you need these traits to make it up there.
Actual smarts could get you there too, but in today’s ExxonMobil, the toxic culture ensures that actual smart people leave or not care enough to progress in this poorly managed ‘technology’ company stuck in 1980s.
Now to the finale— CL 38+, these are clearning more than $5 million plus stocks, they dont rrally care about you..I mean seriously with the sh-t they have taken on their face all these years, they secretly hate all employees. And these are the people who make NSI targets, who say this performance assessment system is the best thing since sliced breadc who say ‘what toxic culture? every company is like this’, who travel in private jets and reduce the number of trash cans in zones to save the ‘corporations’ money. They are above caring about their pathetic servants.
So now, you decide — what kind of human you are and what kind of life you want. I’d say do a solid 5-10 years max, take no sh-t, never let your self respect be damaged by the psychopaths and leave the moment you see that your are no longer welcome. Your mental health, your phsyical health, your family, your true inner self that has the childlike joy and wonder — will all thank you for it.
The Exxonmobil organization is a cult, no more no less. You have to blindly believe and rip out your heart on a platter to serve your overlords and then mayyyybe you will climb the ladder.
Not worth it my friends. I am on my way out. Spent 18 years, a tad too long. But cant stand it anymore. Advise you to leave sooner unless financially you are sc--wed up.
