Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Flex time starting in 2023: Got it. But what happens to accrued PTO on 12/31 is unclear.

The last TK communication was not clear on this issue (I am in California)....

Remember that PTO is a liability on the corporate balance sheet. That's exactly why (and tons of other companies) have moved to an "unlimited" PTO policy. Easy way to shave off a good chunk of change in the "liabilities" side of that sheet. When the policy official changes at year end, unless you're in a state that mandates that it be paid out, I seriously doubt that CSG has any intention of paying it out. This is likely why we've seen tons of managers and long-timers taking a ton of PTO since the announcement - the change to PTO policy was almost a given.

You work for a PE now. Nothing matters anymore. They're not going to tell you anything. I'd say stop trying to second guess them and don't worry about it. Just take all the PTO you have this year, and in 2023, make sure you take even more time off than you got this year.

TK has no budget to pay out accrued PTO. You will need to use it now, if you want to take advantage of it.

No, California law forbids companies from taking away accured PTO at the end of the year. So Citrites in CA could carry over as much as they had. CA law also madates that companies pay out 100% of unused PTO when you leave the company.

My guess is that they'll start subtracting from your balance if/when you start taking time off in 2023. But other than termination payout, my guess is that your PTO will disappear into the fog of "flexible time off" (a.k.a. no guarrenteed time off). This is all a guess, though, as Krause's email did not clarify any of this.

As for most other states -- especially Florida -- the company can do wtf it wants. Because free-d-mb.

Since it will unlimited PTO, there's nothing to carry over. I seriously doubt if they need to pay it out since you don't get paid out now if you have more than 5 day of leave on December 31. Use it or loose it over the next couple of months.
