For the people who were made redundant, would anyone know who they are?

Does anyone know what they are offering in terms of severance pay?

Anyone been through the Risk of Redundancy collective consultation root? They say at Risk although I have the feeling that it’s a tick in the box exercise and what is the actual reality of getting another position within Salesforce?

Yes this is right: 1w pay per year of employment (if you have been employed by the firm for 2 years, otherwise you don't even qualify for this legal allowance). However companies usually go above this statutory (legal) requirement. For example many large firms pay you 1 month severance pay for each year worked with the firm, subject to a cap (say 7 to 10y, that's what I usually hear). I understand this severance pay is tax free. This package is automatically added to your notice period which they have to pay you anyway (but you pay tax on it as if you were normally employed) and this is usually 1m to 3m. So all in all that can leave you with a few months ahead of you to plan your next move, a lot better than in US for example. That's for UK, I don't know about Germany.

With all this being said, we still don't know if some colleagues from the UK have been let go and if yes in what teams?

Define the definition of lay-off in UK and Germany

By employment law UK have to go through collective consultation for groups more than 20+ - 100.

UK employees are still employees serving a 30 days period of HR management BS with a tick in the box exercise before they say we’ve completed this exercise. The next 15 days is individual consultation before they fully make you redundant with minimum statutory package 1 week per every year so barely a salary to get you by.

In this period you can apply to other jobs, not worth it. Few openings!

I’m Germany they have 60 days to find something else.

Steve Corfield sent an email yesterday confirming layoffs in the UK. Several CSG employees were let go today.

If the company paid the workers for 3 months while it was close then the 1000 layoffs was the offset.

The solid quarter, coupled with the layoffs, pleased investors. Salesforce shares jumped 26% to $272.32 on Wednesday.

Please note the word PLEASED INVESTORS. A public company means you are owned. Owned by the investors. That includes everyone from the president and down. You are a robot or a machine with the only intent to increase returns for your owners. The investors owned the company and the investors owned you. Of course, you can decide to leave anytime or be laid off anytime.

50000 workers, 1000 gone. 2%. Could be worse. Your investors will leave you alone, until the next qtr.
