Good luck to the worker bees who get stuff done.

You mean the reorg project is running behind? At Williams? NFW. That's weird.
October is here......guess what? No changes to the people that actually matter. New Board, sure, how long is it going to take until the new members what a new shuffle?
Yeah, old Repete is a real asset! I could go on for days, undoubtly he is the epitome of the captain of the douch canoe! I often see him wondering around all flustered about who knows what. His memory is the only thing shorter than his temper.
The best is when Pete gets mad in a meeting because he doesn't understand or can't keep up. Then somewhere down the road, he takes credit for the entire meeting. One skill I have noticed is that he can flange up to a boss faster than anything I've ever seen.
That's a triple vote for Richards. Every meeting I/we had with him in attendance was the same scenario, dazed and confused then focused on the hour ago topic and still missing the point. I remember when he was a director of OE with one direct report, his secretary, we can't believe he is still relevant-on any level.
Completely agree on Richards. Walking disaster. We need people that solve problems, not make them. But he's a microcosm of the Pipes organization, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
I know slc office needs to clean house, starting with p. Richards he's a mess. Walking around confused about everything and never having an answer. Wmb has moved him three times, come on get rid of him already.
Funny, I believe the story about the coffee cup is true, you cannot make this stuff up. I agree with you though that you should work to make the company better and ignore this office krap. It will not go away, just ignore it!
Don't worry about these posts, just people blowing off steam, great stress relief. It is natural to be angry about being terminated if you aren't something isn't right.
Very disappointed at these posts. If you are an employee, never give up trying to make this company better. Why is there such hate? Why make fun of people supporting any of our customers, regardless of the office they work in. Why would you wish ANY of our offices to close? Granted, coffee cup discussions are ridiculous. All can have opinions but you don't need to tear anyone down to support yours. I often wonder how many of these stories are made up to ignite tension. If we don't have each others' backs and try to make this company great, no one else will either.
1) it is completely childish that someone would get offended by a coffee mug. If you don't like it don't look at it. Grow up.
2) the fact that Williams HR took it seriously shows about where the companies priorities are. Last time I checked it is a free country and I can drink out of whatever cup I want to. It is harrarrment and a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Come on folks. In the real world this stuff does't happen. Only in the land of crazy Williams. Maybe someone should be offended by the fact that 80% of the management team is unqualified and gets rid of the people below them that may be a threat to their cushioned position. They continue to promote medioracy to make themselves look better. My advice is run as fast as you can away from this joke of a company. It's a sinking ship and other companies look at Williams as a joke. #truth #embarrassmenttooklahoma
There are lots of sleaze balls that work in big companies, that will do anything to get ahead, and one trick is to run to hr and throw their coworkers under the bus, I bet this is what happened. Seen it thousands of times. Advice, be careful.
One of my IM cubemates in Tulsa was just asked by HR to remove his Trump coffee cup as it offended someone. He doesn't ever remember taking it to a meeting or away from his desk or coffee fill area. He took it home. Office politics are scary.
One clarification, sometimes certain products go obsolete or divisions are not profitable mergers create extra headcount, terminations in that case are justified if employees cannot be transfered. Cisco just announced layoffs, but overall employee numbers are growing layoffs are still ok. I am not questioning the need to layoff at Williams at all. don't like the reasons for it though, there was way too much hiring going on, creating a large excess of employees, it was out of control.
You missed the point, when the stock price is rising everyone is happy, when it is dropping that is when they terminate employees. Without employees there would be no shareholders as well. You should probably quit as soon possible,
it would be beneficial to the shareholders, do it as soon as possible it is the right thing to do.
So stock price going up is a bad thing? You need to leave this company. Most of you don't get the business we are in -- it isn't to keep you employed. It is to bring value to the shareholders.
Nobody cares, stock price is rising.
Politics ruining most departments at Williams!
Seems like too many IT meetings where someone says they are meeting with Brian L, so things just go cold in the meeting. That person will get what they want in spite of what is right. Politics ruining IT.
Had to nod my head at the LinkedIn post today, didn't even think of that.
There were a few Information Management "Transition" trips from Tulsa to Dallas during that time. Some of those people didn't need to go. WMB financed career networking!
Good post, hard to really say, one would think if you ignored the politics and just focused on your job and you would get rewarded, in some cases it is true and other cases it doesnt happen. The bottom line is do what is best for yourself, good luck.
Observation:
When the ETE deal was warming up, it was amazing to see all the Tulsa people swarming onto the ETE folks on LinkedIn, liking posts etc.... Probably thinking only about their own job versus the good of the company. Anxious to see how they end up versus those that just kept doing their job and ignored the politics.
CHK isn't completely gone, but reduced. For all the Chesapeake folks at Williams OKC who thought they could maybe go back there, nope. Glad to see Williams get some of that risky investment off the balance sheet. And, yeah, like everyone on here says, OKC office is a goner. If you don't like it, "streamlined"
Now that Chesapeake is gone, it should be a little more clear where the layoffs will happen. Goodbye OKC. And everyone supporting CHK assets. Williams gets a triple play - cash, less risk, and easy headcount reductions. Oh yeah, and one less office building. I
Getting tired of IT closing tickets if you don't have time to look at something in detail in 3 days, then they force you to open a new ticket and go through it all again. Can understand you need some limitations, but this is getting ridiculous. Complained to an IT Manager and was quickly educated on the 3 day policy even after I explained my primary goal is getting some equipment built over a 1,000 miles away and that the ticket issue was slowing me down as I bounce from fire to fire as many do. The IT guy I previously dealt with, that always took care of our department was laid off - we should have properly recognized him prior to layoff to try to save him.
What about the trees and plants they need CO2 it is plant food.
The only answer is god? You have to be kidding me. Do you think god wants us to s--- gas and oil out of the ground only to burn it polluting the earth?
Worse than the HR liberals is a government relations lobbyist liberal supporting Hillary....Williams and perhaps the industry is rotting from the inside
Reminds of the Vietnam hippies that ended up working for defense contractors when they needed cash to buy big houses and other big ticket items as they matured into adult hood. Nothing really changes, the only answer is God.
Maybe the conservatives were sent packing because they were generally more ignorant of the realities of the world in which we all live.
NOT a shot against the young people, good we live in this free country. Noticing over time the younger ones that openly supported Obama, Sanders, Hillary.... most in HR. Yet working for an Energy company. All I can think of are still here. Know several Conservatives sent packing.
Management seems to make up programs and other things to say they're doing something. I am amazed by the amount of waste that's acceptable.
Another re-org, by the people who gave us 2012+? I can't stop laughing/crying
One of many working on an IT project, some pieces going really well and others not well at all. We decided that if it doesn't affect us, just leave it alone and fly under the radar as no one wants to hear it. Brian says things are good, so we must agree and not be next on the list looking for work.
It's ok, just enjoy it while you can.
Yes it's a sad situation -- going with the flow as it travels over the cliff or raising the BS flag.
I made the mistake of expressing interest in my IT Manager's job during my last review. Unemployment has taught me to go with the flow next time instead of putting a target on my back.
I heard October also...
Just another rumor!
Big deal, who cares, glad to see it will not happen to October, and hopefully not many will get the ax, the job market is all ready flooded with terminated oil & gas people.
