Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

This company needs real leaders

Leaders, meaning those who motivate, have a clear vision, value people and know how to use their potentials, not bosses who only care about being above someone and making lots of money.

This company has long been without real leaders, which it so desperately needs. And it is felt everywhere?

you have to be kidding, never many real leaders
i have seen lots of people scared to loose their jobs so they avoid decisions and promote/stick with people they know.
The way union gas worked is way out of date, you are on a slippery slope if you think you can work that way today,

To comment on the merger and UG. It took a bit of power from those middle managers, and was a positive step from those who aren't boot lickers.

Love how comments refer to Union Gas as being incompetent. Funny how there was no layoff.com dedicated to Union Gas. Enbridge has destroyed what was a good company and thankfully will always be a good company now that their name is no longer used. It had its share of bad management but all in all it was a great company that people wanted to be a part of. We were family and our Presidents treated us respectfully and like family, Want to blame …. Blame the two id--ts who probably sat down over a beer to negotiate this merge. Thanks AM and GE. (For destroying UG).

To the poster who wrote, “Everyone is here for the same reason - To make money,” I say, exactly.

I mean, of course we’re all here to make money. But making money overrides all other moral, ethical and legal considerations.

Safety, Integrity, Respect. BS. our value is to make money and to walk over anyone—internal or external—we need to in the process.

That’s why the narcissistic bullies do so well here.

All leadership cares about is the value of our stock price. This is a business and the business DOES NOT CARE about people. Everyone is here for the same reason - To make money. That is the only motivating factor here. People’s work will continue to be outsourced or replaced by AI as they continue to reduce costs.

Same deal with S/E Ontario. The leadership there will actively prey on decent people. You have to be a special brand of psychopath to be in their good graces.

Vile, immature and inexperienced middle and upper management at UG (S/W Ontario)...If you dont cozy up to these kids or have family on the inside, prepare for a rough ride if you stand up for fair and equal treatment.

Every single large company in history that had to do layoffs had these exact same claims made about their leadership. In fact, it's so ubiquitous that you can just dismiss it as noisy complaining.

Enbridge desperately needs real leaders. However, Enbridge promotes people who do the bidding of their bosses. You want to get ahead? Do whatever it takes to get into the good graces of a someone with power. Then make sure your direct reports, in turn, do your bidding. Fire, lay off or bully into submission the ones who don’t.

Union Gas sounds like a nightmare. However, speaking from experience, I can tell you that head office in Calgary is also bad. Walk on eggshells, people, walk on eggshells. There are some terribly damaged “leaders” looking for scapegoats.

Middle management at Enbridge are narcissistic and bullies. The worst offender is Union Gas I think. They encourage blatant nepotism and discrimate against anyone not in the “clique”. There needs to be a complete overhaul of these so called “leaders”. All the good ones have been either fired, retired or left. The worst offenders are in SE Ontario

Lack of leadership is felt everywhere. I spend most of my time figuring out what the best political move is. I know that if I do something to offend certain people, I’m toast.
