Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum Amway saves your job

Any coincidence senior directors and managers with terrible performance who also sell Amway for their VP constantly avoid lay offs? In the Optum feudal system, the best way to keep your job is to become a downline selling Amway for a UBH VP.

Id love to see an update from the person who called the ethics line.

Anyone know what areas are involved in this MLM b—s—?

It is not a coincidence. Its disgusting. And if you are not one of their chosen people you are labeled a detractor and made to seem like a behavior problem. Its sickening. Go against them and pay a tax!

I can tell you first hand - all of this is true. I thought it was just my small spot. I will be contacting the ethics line today.

I'm trying to google optum and Amway but it just keeps bringing up optum hsa etc. Does anyone have a link to any info on their connection? Or am I not using the correct search terms?

They have preyed upon Optum employees. It’s truly sad. I was one of those employees.

If ppl will not call them out on an anonymous site - they most likely wont report this behavior. People are scared and self-preservation is at play

Fake it till you make it is all of Sr Leadership. Only one I respect is Dirk, and that's because he's been around long enough, doesn't cater to the banking mgmt brats and knows the business.

The MLS fake it til you make it mantra is the style of UBH leaders. Anyone who threatens that is run out and laid off. That don't work in healthcare. No wonder there are so many lawsuits against ubh

I am beginning to wonder if the Optum/Amway connection goes further than my small area. Judging by these responses it may. I know of three people who are involved and there is definitely some shady bs happening with promotions etc but I hadn’t heard of them pushing for people to join.
Disgusting. So much for acts ethically

I'm with iow- if you can't get them internally, expose them externally. Reddit, Twitter, etc. It's BS to hold a position in Healthcare and be subject to retaliation for not pushing c-ap MLM schemes.

Is this serious? If so then you know that the Optum Management doing this have no souls and no regard for human decency. Shilling overpriced garbage and preying on gullible people to join MLM / Pyramid Schemes is bad but using your position at work to do this is just evil. F them. Reddit Anti/MLM calls all these id–ts out for what they are and AMWAY is considered the worse. I feel for anyone having Amway actually infecting a real workplace with actual repercussions Report this and call this out. Highlight the roaches. Makes me sick

What specific departments have leaders that are pushing Amway on their teams? This sounds too crazy to be true - which sadly means it probably is true.

Funny how company policy is not to even ask for donations for something, yet Sr Management is actively recruiting folks into MLM's. I understand the retaliation for not reporting it inside the company, ... man that's just horrible. No words.

Loyalty is important to cults. Including corporation cults. I knew a guy who got divorced and gave up everything except his Amway business. He said he let it go dormant while he was pursuing divorce to avoid having to split $$ and trying to discourage her interest in ownership of the business. She gave it up in the divorce. He built it back up post divorce. It was unsettling indeed. People love their Amway. I don’t get it but I guess I’m not supposed to! I turned down offer several times as I also turned down the product. It would feel weird buying makeup from a guy anyways lol

Start with reporting it to Scott Johnson.

Unfortunately, there is a very high possibility of retaliation and therefore no one will speak up. Speak and lose your position or keep quiet. That’s the motto with anything that goes against optums leadership.

So Optum execs who participate in an MLM are being coveted? This absolutely should be reported.

If what you say here is true, I hope you are reporting this. It has the appearance of an ethical issue even if its not an ethics violation. Curious what are of ubh this references.

Some of the Downlines within the company (ubh Optum) should probably keep Optum at Optum and Amway at home. When business decisions for Optum are being discussed during a product rollout for Amway- you know Optum is going downhill! Fast! There is no way to put out that fire!!

I would have to agree with the above statement. I was actually approached and when I declined- there were repercussions. If you are not in the inner circle, your job is not secure. Business decisions for Optum (so I heard through bragging) are sometimes made at always meetings. I’ve heard plenary about the Amway circle. It’s a little unsettling.
