This is my favorite: Manager screws up so badly, employee quits. Manager gathers whoever is left (yes men, noobs, H1B, whatever) together for a good-bye lunch. Manager calls it "Team Building Event'. The irony. Manager goes back to office to rest'n'vest, hopes no one notices.

Hiring freeze means they are anticipating global downturns in growth. Nobody except Verizon cares about FR2 right now. Qualcomm has plenty of redundancy built in, not a big deal.

So many people on here have no idea what kind of company Qualcomm is. The main issue is all the workers have no idea what kind of company they work for. Qualcomm’s lead ship is working according to plan! Qualcomm’s culture has gotten very political bc no new products are coming to market so politics will come into play to cut payroll. You can be a great worker but you are still a worker and not an inventor so Qualcomm will cut you once you are too expensive! People here seem to be so confused and that is the issue not Qualcomm!

@3rki

If you cannot see the issue, as the saying goes. You are the issue.

What is left of Q is as you said, dead or dying of multiple ailments. Toxicity, lack of leadership to enable innovation, etc..

You forget or become blinded when inside Q. But as soon as you exit, you thrive and hopefully detox and live longer and more fruitful life.

Avoid the Q. It's better for your longevity.

There are high impact performance engineers at Qualcomm? Does anyone know why these engineers are living off the invention of old men and dead men? Does anyone know when these top performers will create a product of their own?

Layoff the status collectors and pay engineers who are high impact performers top dollar.

Depends on your definition of "natural turnover". if you mean people quitting because they're fed up with poor managers that look out for themselves more than the talent that has been entrusted in their care.....then yea. "Natural" turnover.

Global recession anticipated… the fact that a hiring freeze is occurring is forward looking…. Less layoffs next year or hopefully no layoffs with natural turnover

The usual ch!ckensh!t VP's throw some more engineers overboard to save themselves, then go back to playing tennis at the Rancho Santa Fe Tennis club.
