An interesting POV considering all the discussion about companies, including Ford, having people Return to Work.

Amazon is going back to the office. The world is going back to the office. We should have been back to the office 2 years ago. You work for a company that makes vehicles and you think you are going to sit in your home office?

Sincere question - do you think that a Republican lead state administration would handle WFH/RTO differently?

You all still don't get it. Local leaders want it for the economic spending, and the resulting taxes, that it generates. The pressure on company leaders to force us all back into the office means it is going to happen. Whether we like it or not.

I don't have a problem RTO for a well-defined task that requires team collaboration. I do have a problem with RTO just to show bodies in a room. At PDC, most everyone is on a WebEx. Not a fan of the nomadic desk lifestyle either. Having to pack / unpack your home office, binders, files on a daily basis is exhausting. RTO is nothing but kabuki theater.

great article showing productivity loss when companies start enforcing RTO.

@3pul+1l9rI9DV I've been saying this on this site for months. Whitlessmer, mayor of Dearborn, lots of local leaders have had a full court press on trying to get Ford to RTO. The local economies are suffering sure to WFH. And it hits tax receipts too! Less sales tax and gas tax income for the state, as businesses close and property taxes aren't paid, the local cities/counties now have to grab l take possession, something they hate doing.

This is why RTO is inevitable. If you think Bill Ford won't eventually fold to his Democrat buddies on this issue then you're but just WFH, but smoking some good stuff from home too!

And this is why companies are having us return to work. With the rising costs and merits meager, who can afford to spend a ton of money in the local area anyway?

@2cwj+1l9rI9DV RTO or SIRP'd. You get to choose.

That would be awesome if they offered SIRP!

Stellantis is work from home for good. PD and engineering are hybrid. Since merger all teams are global in nature and most people don’t sit in Auburn Hills. Oh and the French hate Real estate, copy machines and paper.

Why the assumption that work from home is lazy? I put in more time starting about 7am any work online until after 6 pm. I do take some time during this time to grab lunch, 15 minutes to vwalk dogs with phone either listening in meetings and available for work calls. Not napping or doing side jobs. I do not work on vehicles every day but when I need to I go in.

It is political, and Billy loves the Governor and Dearborn mayor. Democrats all. So he will cowtow to them and make us all RTO.

Idky people keep talking about GM and how well they are doing because they returned to work. They returned to the office 3 days a week on Jan 30th. If you consider them so successful, then u can say they were successful working remote.

Returning to the office has more to do with political reasons, tax cuts and other hidden agendas.

The article states that other countries see remote work is here to stay and their governments are providing visas to do so.

Get a clue. Remote work can be and is successful. Ford management needs to take responsibility for their pi-s poor strategy, squeezing the suppliers, short cuts, sh---y culture of not telling the emperor he isn’t wearing clothes, protecting “friends and family” and other political BS that stops us from being successful.

You are going back in full time. GM is cleaning Ford clocks as we cry about working in office. I bet by March, Ford management will make this happen. They won't sit by while Telsa and GM are back, and Ford folks are lazy at home!
