Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Be prepared for big changes coming after the poor inventory results

HyVee is going to be looking at dramatic way to save cost. Some of the ideas I hear floating around is layoffs, having one dept manager manage two departments , taking away the store bonus program , cutting benefits, cutting labor hours by 15 to 20% per store, cutting full time staff and replacing them with part time help. More pay cuts. I know I’m already got I’m updated resume ready to go when sh-t gets worst. Just remember HyVee isn’t a family or the best place to work for in America. They will fire you and replace you without warning. Don’t think for a minute a will help the employees.

20+ year employee. I shop at Fareway. It's everything Hy-Vee isn't. Clean, well-stocked, good prices, friendly employees, full service. I wish they were open Sunday, but I can work around that.

Here is one question i have for hyvee board of directors. How many employees of 15 years of service have left hyvee over last 2 years. The first 13 years of 17 years at hyvee i hyvee was good employeer. Took care of customers and hard work was rewarded with promotions. My first trip to corp was randy sink ship speech or whatever it was. Basically all poeple in room were stupid and he was only smart one it. When i left i called corp hr asked to do exit interviews. Answer no. This shows how little hyvee cares about employees or why they leave. Hyvee will never hire outside person from outside company into dm level management. Big mistake. They need new fresh ideas. Need buddy club system of promotions broke up. I dont shop hyvee anymore. Hyvee turn over cost are soaring= lost sales= more wasted labor training expense= lost knowledge to help customers with buying decisions at a profit not lost leaders at negative margins. All this will catch. Plus a burn out work force. How much blood can you squeze out of beet. Hyvee profits soared 2020, 2021. Real trouble coming. Negative food inflation is coming. Trust me hyvee wont reduce prices as prices lower. Competition will. All more reason to shop elsewhere add understaffed store and terrible cleaniness to list. Just walk a local hyvee fresh vega rack. Trust me you find mold growing on the shelves. Was never allowed 5 years ago. Good luck to all at hyvee. I left before the big collaspe

The worst part about HyVee is the total failure of randy and his staff. If they ever worked for a publicly traded company they would have been fired. With HyVee not being that way you can ever fire the CEO. They can fail year in and year out until they retire or drive the company to bankruptcy.

They have already done all the things you mentioned and more. Still poor results. It's time to remove the Chairman and put a pencil to every facet of the current business model. You can only cut so much labor before it becomes counter productive to do so. The problem lies at the top. Fix that and the rest will flow down and fall into place. Board of Directors, time to grow a pair and make the appropriate changes.

I hope every ounce of this bites them in the a-s. I understand it is a business, but enough is enough. The way they treat their employees it’s time to stop shopping there. Their higher prices were a trade off for decent service. That service I expected is long gone with the elimination of top quality help.

I don’t shop at Hy-Vee anymore as well does not 10-15 members of my family. The only item that will bring me in is their hot deals and that’s all I will purchase so they lose money on my purchase. Yep I’m a cherry picker.

Good luck with your pi-s poor decisions HyVee as you have lost this customer who avg 146 a week in groceries. Yes it’s only $7600 a year but it will be spent elsewhere.

I’m so sick and tired of Hy-Vee’s non connection with a customer.
