Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

When will this endless cycle of layoffs stop? Optum can’t continue slashing its workforce without facing some major issues down the line. How much more do they think they can trim before it starts to hurt the operations? And when you think about it, while we might see some job security return eventually, who will want it by then? We’ll be expected to juggle the workload of several people while earning just one paycheck!

Layoffs are never ending. The company acquires businesses, then su-ks the customers, competitive data and the money out of the acquisition. Once that is done, layoffs begin to get rid of all legacy staff of the acquired company. They take the company out of the market to reduce competition, try and keep as many customers as they can and then dump the legacy employees. This organization does not value the legacy knowledge nor does it transition the information. They simply don't care. They just swallow up the competition and sp-t out the employees by layoff and move forward to the next. What's doesn't make sense is that our US government is oblivious to these activities as it violates anti-trust but then again, it's all about the shareholder value and surely those in those government positions are also investors (conflict of interest). That's all folks. From the outside looking in; so great to be out of there long ago.
All the best to those who recently were affected by the layoffs. Your health will improve. Don't look back just move forward.

Has anyone else heard that Optum is trying to stop Currana Health from hiring former Optum employees?

It already is hurting operations. Remember the change healthcare hack? Theyre all Wipro now.

I also cant tell you how many times ive been on call in optum tech with a prod issue and there are teams that are fully down with no people aware, and team is all offshore. or bugs where there is no one who can troubleshoot it and they have to call an SOS with the TCC. never had seen this at all previous to this year, 10 years here

Plus every time they get busted with some new episode of fr@& such as settling with the labor dept due to violating ERISA and denying thousands of emergency room visits etc , they take those losses out on the employees . Quick way to make up the cash they have to pay. They have lawsuit after lawsuit in the works some totaling in the billions of dollars . It’s not looking good.

If you look at the jobs site they’re not just cutting jobs in the US, they’re hiring a lot of jobs at their global sites and it appears it’s just that simple.
