Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Failed experiment

The notion of moving Product Management, and Marketing, under one indivifual (ML), to align their efforts, forcing these organizations to work towards unified goals and adopt common priorities, and most importantly work on shared timelines, has failed. It has proven to be a just another failure.

With the arrogance (and ignorance), of existing leadership in both groups, mediocre mid-level management, and the inability to implement even a few changes to the org-structure, it was highly unlikely this would have succeeded in the first place. The challenge for ML to deal with strong personalities and their blatant lies have now proven this entire excercise to be nothing but a pipe dream.

ML lured back? So far he’s a useless relic of the 90’s. I can see why his wife wanted to kick him back out - so arrogant and for no reason.

Yes. Accenture has been hired.

So you guys know, consulting is the most USELESS/COSTLY wasted of money next to the NASCAR and Gold tourney experiments.

Consulting companies charge a HUGE(!!) amount to just TELL you what any JUNIOR person could (or this chat board for that matter)....all bow-tied with flashy pretty slides that have been regurgitated/re-copied from previous slides of previous clients using MBA lingo copied from some HBS case study. (ask McKinsey how many companies in dire straits they managed to save--Sears?, ToyR'Us?, the list goes into infinity!).

The amount of useless/wasted money spent on Accenture could have EASILY(!) funded a dozen or more people that they're going to lay off in January.

This is a serious facepalm.

I felt ML must have been lured back with a lot of money, lots of lies, or both -- to lead the product management and marketing teams at Juniper.

Maybe he was naive and believed everything will be fixed by an org change. The plm re-org doesn't even come close - the same troubled personnel are still in charge. They will continue to make the same mistakes as before. Re-orgs don't work if you don't change the leaders who make decisions.

BTW, is it true that Accenture is working all kinds of angles to help Juniper with the re-org? Creepy 'consultant' from Accenture was asking me weird questions not too long ago. Weak!

Let's see...

Can a reallignment fix incompetence and arrogance?

If there is one group at juniper responsible for these perpetual layoffs going on right now, they are the PLMs. They have :

  • Focused on the wrong customers.

  • Tried to solve the wrong problems.

  • Defined the wrong requirements.

  • Designed the wrong products.

  • Not kept up with technologies

  • Refused to work with counterparts in other BUs.

Why then are we re-alligning them? Send them all home. They created this debacle.

To be fair I think it’s too soon to tell. The changes only just started. The PLM realignment just happened two weeks ago. Sure it might fail but don’t you think you should give them more than two weeks? My rule of thumb is that any org change that gives Juniper a net addition of VPs is a bad thing. There’s so much c-ap going on that I’m no sure whether we’re net positive or negative.

ML is part of the Indian mafia JNPR once again over paid for a company with very little value and IP. BOD is really starting to questions RR ability to execute and ML is being looked at to possibly step in if RR doesn't get his act together. Brining ML back into JNPR has lit a fire under RR

Really true. Not sure why ML is hired and cyphort, skyatp are biggest debacles.
