Seaworld has been looking for an opportunity for a major reduction in force and this latest opportunity fell right into their laps. I'm positive they'll use it to the fullest and make sure to bring back the minimum possible number of employees - even if we already did work with a skeleton crew. I'm just wondering what will be the final number of those who'll be told not to come back.

From my sources.
In Tampa, people will be called back in three waves.
I do not know when those will happen but, if you have not been called back after the third wave, you are out.
To the #nolayoffs@SW comment - not everyone is returning to work. People were notified to clean out their offices and that they're hiring temp labor for those positions.
SeaWorld never borrowed Federal money or got any government bailout. The money they raised was borrowing $100M+ from their credit revolver and selling junk bonds (high interest debt). This is all debt on top of the $1.4B they already owed. They never got anything from the CARES act and there is nothing that says everyone has to come back to work.
A previous post was spot on. Another chance to eliminate jobs fell in their lap, specifically full time and salaried jobs that they have to pay benefits for. Sorry to say and its really sad....not everyone is coming back.
Do you have a link to anything that shows they received federal money? They certainly applied for it but I can’t find anything that shows it was approved
No one is being laid off and no calls have been made because no calls can be made. Everyone is returning to work. SeaWorld borrowed federal money to stay afloat. They would be sued if they laid off even one person. They agreed not to lay-off staff by taking federal money. Use your brain next time you speak. #NoLayoffs@SW
I dont buy the "if you didnt get a call you are done" comment. Seems trollish and too sudden. There is no way they even got through calling everyone to come back at this point.
If you have heard no word about returning as of today, you are laid off. Everyone got notice who were chosen to stay. Merchandise, Operations, Culinary, and Education leadership we’re all cut by half for both salaried and hourly leadership (Assistant Supervisors and up).
Tampa ? What department and level?
Tampa employees already receiving lay off calls.
Everything is being cut, Operations leadership in half!
In operations, I’m hearing only 50% of leadership will be returning since park will be at 50% capacity. Do not know if the other 50% will be coming back at a later date.
They were planning layoffs prior to this.
Sadly I think we will see massive reductions in staff count. Our only hope is SWE receives money from the CARES Act which stipulates they must bring back 90% of employees and at their same rate of pay.
Yeah we’ve known this and speculated for awhile.
Look for those furloughs to become permanent. I wouldn’t be surprised if the salaried/FT headcount is halved.
