Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

I think most people are missing the NEW elephant in the room.... Corona virus. How long before Boeing experiences supply chain disruptions from the effected countries? Kia, Huandi, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, just to name a few have halted production... How long before parts stop moving period? Anyone? I think we have 30 to 45 days max before work stoppage happens at Boeing. Better make sure you can survive a prolonged work stoppage on all programs.

Everyone has said "basic math" for the past 11 months.

Yes, those contractors may have been here for 5 years. But did you know that like most companies, they should have never been there over 2 years. Boeing is not different, the rule is 2 years and then you either part ways or go direct. So, it's not surprising they break their own rules. Plus, contractors are cheaper, no benefits. If Boeing could have all contractors they would. Then they would not have to deal with the unions, itnis a good thing they are gone.

VLOs? I can tell you with 100% certainty, There have been no VLOs due to this grounding. Of someone chooses to retire or leave the company, we don't stop them, but we are not letting directs go.

And don’t think just because they are still hiring means there’s not going to be a layoff. Last two I’ve seen they were hiring people right up to the week of layoffs. They have tried to postpone this in hopes that something will turn around for the better. 10,000+ flights cancelled due to a virus with no end in sight. A second Asia crisis is coming and you know what that means. Boeing is more dependent on Asia than it was in the late 90’s. Look up how many were let go then. Basic math.

If ANYONE watched the employee webcast today then you will most definitely know they could care less about us. That’s been known from the start.
We are all just numbers. Around the 45-50th minute time stamp in the webcast you see the lady in the crowd asking questions about how Boeing will handle hardships across the employees who have been sent to Everett. Their response? “We’ll look into it, next question”

Also to the poster who said “bad PR, rep, etc” yes I believe that to be true. The weird thing is I see groups of new hires getting their tour around the factory on a weekly basis. It’s weird.

Some those contractors have been at Boeing for 5 plus years. Boeing has VLO -ed thousands of workers, they have relocated thousands of jobs out of Puget Sound. Boeing is in crisis mode.

You can't prove a negative. It's fun to watch the narrative shift from "OMG layoffs are coming", to "Layoffs would come if the economy was not this good"

I agree it's pretty clear by now Boeing doesn't actually care about people. The only reason there hasn't been a mass layoff is because the economy is good and Boeing doesn't want to lose their workers incase the MAX goes back into production. It's all circumstance if the economy was bad like it was 8 years ago Boeing would've laid off thousands by now

Mass layoffs= PR nightmare and a massive stock market loss and it's an absolute last resort. Boeing could care less about human life nevermind factory jobs. Noone can predict when they will happen because boeing hasn't hit rock bottom yet. But when they do. The layoffs will be fast and plentiful. But hopefully boeing company can turn it around. It isn't looking good now. And they churn out more and more lies everyday.
