I don't know why wireless workers haven't unionized. I know the company indoctrinates everyone against the union but maybe it would lead to more job security. If leadership is so dead set against the union that they would have trainings about why unions are evil, it's because unions are bad for leadership, not the frontline.

Wireless is not being indoctrinated about the union. I've been here for 7yrs and haven't heard a single mention of the union by anyone...peers or Leadership.
The time for wireless employees to join the Union has long been over.
I don't doubt the union will fight tooth and nail. But it's not for our jobs, but rather to keep the dues coming in. No members means no jobs for those who run the union. It's self preservation for the leadership. The union is a business just like any other.
It's simple the union does not get paid if they don't have members. They will fight tooth and nail to keep your job for you. Go ahead and think Verizon will take care of you if your non union.... you are just a number.... #union strong
Join the union so the union leadership can continue to make their vacation home and boat payments without doing any measurable work
"I don't know why wireless workers haven't unionized"
because there is no reason to, some states are at will anyway, starting at the bottom in a union at this company would actually be more harmful than helpful to your career
Very plain to see that the dues you pay and sacrifice you make help those who have gone before, and it is the ones behind you that cover your rear. So, like any Ponzi scheme, they need new blood. And that's all fine and good if there is a plentiful supply of new blood. But there just isn't anymore, so people are getting scared.
No way would I join the union because I do not believe that there will be enough new members after me to make my sacrifice worthwhile. Our generation will be left holding the bag. And all the while, you can be assured that the union leadership will still make their money no matter what. You know they've structured things to cover their butts first.
"I don't know why wireless workers haven't unionized.". That's an easy question to answer. Look at AT&T Mobility union contracts. The union has been there for 15 years and has had many chances to renegotiate their contracts. Love unions or hate them, nobody can deny that the union has not delivered for those employees. Verizon shows employees what their AT&T counterparts pay in union dues and shares the terms of the union contracts there. Employees are not stupid. They can plainly see the union has had 15 years there and still hasn't delivered a good deal for AT&T Mobility employees.
It's funny Verizon is hiring union employees right now and laying off a lot of Non-union workers because they can.
No one said the union can't do anything. But from a cost benefit perspective anymore, it's just not a good deal unless you don't have the skills to make it in today's market.
Honestly, I can see why older, more established union folks are so pro union. But sorry newer guys, but no company is bringing back pensions, high cost healthcare, and all the other perks that unions used to be able to negotiate no matter what the union leadership promises. We are just being recruited to help pay for the older guys with some promise that someone coming behind will pay for you. But that's not likely.
I want join the onion send the e mail pleass
Wireless leadership brain washes the employees to believe the Union cannot do anything for them. They tell us they just want our money, they can't do anything for you, they can't change our policies, blah blah blah.... All of which are not true. Everything is negotiable. The average Wireless employee is not knowledgeable about Unions and is not willing to find out the truth. They just take the word of the company. They are of a sheep mentality.... Verizon said it's bad so it's bad. Employees are outcast if they express they want to Unionize and often times the company will find a way to get rid of such employees. Truth is, most employees aren't strong enough or wise enough to stand up against the company.
They don't unionize because most see through the charade. "Collective bargaining" only serves to make those in the union business richer. Experienced it first hand... there is no real representation of the worker, its a perception of safety and security created by using coercion, psychology and strongarm tactics. Take the red pill and wake up, or keep taking the blue pill, pay your dues, and enjoy your "reality".
Because unions are so old school.... A thing of the past. Most people in the Union in this company seem so bitter and unhappy the majority of the time. Who wants to always be angry and disappointed?!
Talk about a Ponzi scam. We all know the main beneficiaries of any new union dues would be the existing union members and leadership. New members would get very little if any benefit. Like any Ponzi scheme, the union needs new blood to keep going as retirements escalate in this environment. I don't know about you, but I have no interest in subsidizing a bunch of corrupt fat cats in the leadership. It just doesn't seem right.
Because wireless workers are young , don't under stand the benifits and just look at this as a job.
Also culture in the south , mgt preaches anti union.
In N.Y. it's "pro choice" but either way u spin it mgmt preaches an anti union message
