Thread regarding CVS layoffs

R2O / Work One

Does anyone have insight on what the plan is for work one in the future? At the latest Aetna town hall they said we’d “be hearing more about it in Q2 or Q3.” And then at the CVS town hall they reiterated that we’d hear more later this year. I know many are not compliant, but I’ve heard in the past that many of the executives are not pushing it but it would seem otherwise now. I’ve also heard rumors that they might put a radius into effect such as anyone who’s within 20 miles for example needs to come in a certain amount.
Any insight would be appreciated!

Given half my team is remote and does meetings through Teams anyways, the 3x a week RTO has been completely useless.
My team does the majority of our work on the computer, so there really isn't any good reason for RTOing, unless its just out of touch C suite / shareholders trying to prop up their CRE investments

They're already enforcing 3x week RTO for anyone on my team who lives within 30 miles of a hub. Functionally, it's completely nonsensical. We work with people all over the country, so people just go into the office to take Teams calls from their desk with their earbuds in. Everyone outside of that radius can still work remotely....for now. Last summer, there were discussions about laying off anyone outside of that radius, not even giving them the chance to commute or relocate. They want to force everyone to RTO but honestly don't have enough desk space to do it right now, at least until their next batch of reducing headcount...

RTO in any capacity is a complete joke. They should have it flexible, so people who want to be in an office can go, but people aren’t required to go. It’s just micromanagement from the top down. People proved all through Covid that they can work full-time remote while still being completely productive. And their RTO claim of “being collaborative” in the office is trash. People literally go into the office and sit on teams calls with people in other offices. Complete disaster.

Well, a lot of senior leaders and people hired during COVID do not live near a CVS office. I don't really see how RTO would be very beneficial. Many people I closely work with are all across the country (RI, TX, AZ, IL, etc). Maybe other teams are different.
