Where will the next 20K to be laid off come from?

Citigroup intend to spin off Banamex, the bank unit based in Mexico, in the near future. Once that unit is spun off, all employees within Banamex will no longer be counted as Citigroup staff. Meaning most of the headcount reduction remaining will be associated with the Banamex spin off.

I don’t understand why they would be targeting Belfast, it’s a low cost area, in fact it wasn’t that long ago it was encouraged to hire in Belfast due to lower wages.

Are the rats leaving the sinking ship? This week another announcement that a senior leader in CTI is pursuing outside opportunity. Members of the board of directors in some countries in EMEA are leaving in next weeks…… So what does the top of the house know which is not known by the worker bees?

No layoff at CTI side, more hiring happening now. Layoffs are just another rumours.

Wage costs are less in Belfast than in London though. The bank would make more savings by targeting London staff.

No layoffs for a while. Layoffs will be in January based on performance so management doesn’t have to pay severance pay. Technology teams in ny/nj will be affected and moved to Texas or Florida. Only management and consultants in high cost centers
