Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Older employees

If you are over 50, your chances of being laid off are automatically higher. This has nothing to do with age discrimination or anything like that. The fact is, the longer you've been here, the more you make. And when the goal is to cut costs, those who can be replaced with people who'll earn much less for doing the same job are the first to go. It's as simple as that.

You are definitely correct on the over 50 people getting the ax. I was 51, was there 27 years. no loyalty, no respect, no consideration for being a good employee for decades. That company is so misguided lead by corrupt, unethical management and practices. They wont last. Sorry you are all going through what I did. I say take the money and run, retire or find something out of corporate corrupt Citi!

Not true..Citi Comp is the lowest on the Street and longer you stay less earned annually..When you Boomerang..leave and return-there is a big difference then if you stayed... #beentheredonethat

Maybe Jane should be let go, she’s over 50. If we are going with out with the old and in with the new, then she too should fall under that same rule of thumb.
