Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Back in the day this condition was handled with pills and / or alcohol.

"Boo hoo, I'm getting paid a whole lot of money at my job but they took away some perks that only the highly-paid were getting in the first place, poor me. Instead of taking action, I'll just whine about it. Who feels sorry for me?"

And you post it on a site for people who have been laid off or are facing a layoff. Who don't have jobs or who have had to take jobs paying a lot less than the one they lost. Who would love to have that job you are bi--hing about.

Su-k it up, buttercup. Either buckle down and work hard anyway or find another job. But don't go looking for sympathy here, you big crybaby.

How many years have we had restructuring? Every year by my count. Big layoffs, small layoffs, targeted layoffs and now pushing people to just quit. It is time to realize anyone is a number. The good old days are gone there is no point in trying to mourn the loss of what was. We should expect every year to have some impact. We aren’t growing. Management doesn’t know how to grow. Cutting is all we know. Face reality or leave.

I left and am so glad I did. Family and friends have noticed I’ve returned to my old happy self, and my new company is balanced on all fronts. Looking back, I’m very sorry I stayed for as long as I did and allowed 3M to impact me so negatively personally and professionally. The word toxic has powerful meaning now that I look back on experience with 3M. Get out and take your life back. You’ll be happy you did, and so will your friends and family, even if it means less money.

I left. Less money but better quality of life. I no longer live my life on pins and needles and can enjoy my Sunday instead of stressing over what Monday will bring. People in upper management are like a bunch of radioactive cockroaches scurrying about trying to feast on everybody and everything they can find. No purpose, just chaos.

You can whine about LTIP, but that means you are making $200k and you’re just whining.

To the OP: I hear the circus is hiring.

On top of all that was mentioned by OP, I was regularly gas lighted by management in my division and constantly diminished and lied to. Both my mental and physical health suffered, so I quit last year. When your health is impacted, your only option is to leave.

Going to a different job is not quitting. Quitting means accepting that the depressing life that you have at 3M is all you can ever have and that you adjust and settle to it.

Don't be loyal to the company because it won't be loyal to you. When you find an opportunity elsewhere, go for it! You are still driven, hence you are feeling down. For those who are just taking the paycheck, we've already given up being driven. Don't get into a rut like we did!

You can do it!

Sack up. This isn't everyone gets trophies anymore. If you can't handle it, take your amazing talent elsewhere. This is for layoff talk.

You think you are depressed now...wait until you get let go, after giving the company the best 25+ years of your life and you spend day after day applying for jobs! Get back to work and stop sitting on this site complaining.
