Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

ISM is a disgrace!

This is awful! The worst system ever!
Over 7 Hours were spent last week with the entire stores leadership team trying to go through the functional assigning people, only to have call outs, no shows, and poor planning about how busy our store was going to be, so all the hours assigning people were wasted. 10 people were suppose to help with markdowns Sunday, of those 10 only 4 actually did help. Same issue for the following day and today.
This isn't working!
And don't get me started on fittingroom! Over 150 double bars, hidden in every ho-e in the store, but of course we only report 10 racks.
Our floors are empty cause it's all on racks.
And we're suppose to expect Billy and Susie who have never put out new merchandise to be able to do it up to standards with little guidance and 1 hour of training, lol
Ok in a dream world where we have enough staff and everyone comes to work, willing to work, and knows what they're doing and doesn't have to be babysat by the 2 managers covering the entire store..
And now forcing everyone to do everything, not everyone is cut out to deal with customers at the registers or can work till closing, that's why they work support! Not everyone can look at colors and see what goes best together and make the new merchandise appealing to customers.
The amount of talent and hard workers we are going to loose is a disgrace! It's not like hoards of people are applying to work at Macy's for minimum wage to fill their places.
WE'RE NOT TARGET! They are less then half our size and triple the about of staff. They need to figure this out soon or it will be the DEATH of Macy's.

At my store, you read the walk report and do what you are assigned to do or a manager can move you to another area to do something else.

The ‘People Leaders’ at the rally all say ‘we are still trying to figure this out with you all’

The company wants to work out the kinks before Q4. By the sound of it, from what I've been reading, a lot of stores are not prepared. It doesn't look like it was rolled out properly. It was not explained to people correctly and people were not trained. It's like they were in denial or something. I am at one of the stores that rolled this out in the pilot, and it has been rough, and we've had a year to adjust. We're still not there. It's painful! And let me tell you, it is not going away. To think that it's going away is wishful thinking. People need to embrace it, work it, and give feedback continuously. Nobody wants to hear that ISM doesn't work. You'll be branded as negative and lacking in agility. I don't agree with ISM, but not figuring it out is harder. It would just make it easier if Store Managers were on board more and held leaders accountable. A lot of these CXMs have no idea what their jobs are. It's just soooo wildly different than how it was 10 years ago when I started at Macy's. The talent is just not equipped to handle or execute these initiatives. They need to start with training People Leaders and setting expectations with them. And they can shape up or ship out. So many of them are utterly clueless, and I'm afraid to say that it isn't their fault.

Notice how all the managers are suddenly out of the office to control the chaos

Managers appear to be as clueless as we are. There is NO plan. So what if the "list by the door" states where you are supposed to be? You are going to get pulled to go elsewhere and do something else anyway. . What is the coverage at the registers? Who is going to cover breaks? When are the next associates coming in? Why is someone being pulled to work on another floor by one manager (who doesn't let anyone else know- including the other managers). This is chaos. ISM was rolled out at other locations months ago, the rest of the stores are just catching up. During this time NO ONE raised the logistical problems they encountered to the rest of the company so that there might have been some insight as to how to tweak the system? No one??? Jeff? Are you out there Jeff?

So true. On Sunday the first there callouts so people had to be moved back to cover. Last night their were call out . 2 people covered the whole second floor. As of now there is about 10 to 15 people trying to swap their Friday hours. Peolple are becoming disgruntled already . It’s only day 3. Fitting room rods are hidden in stockroom or receiving cuz it’s spilling onto the sales floor. This system is not working already
