The troubling thing is nobody is including defamation as part of the dynamic here. If you get laid off and go somewhere with Intel on your resume, your chances might be tainted by the fact that you were laid off for performance reasons. If you can prove that is not the case, then why let them defame your reputation?

Only possible path is a class action, but only if something very specific is uncovered ... Having performance criteria as a metric, and site closures etc are fair reasons ... I'm sure there is nothing to sue for there.

Personal treatment can be an issue , but best case is a slight enhanced package to go quietly ... In mass situations like this they will tighten the process up to prevent the likelihood of a manager screwing up.

Reality, like others say - is this is life. Intel doesn't owe anyone a living , and people should not feel entitled .... Hard as it is, if you are impacted (not sure if I am) , take the money and move on to next chapter of your life, yes it's painful and traumatic but the change for most of us would probably be refreshing.

Frankly - if opt for a total change of pace and do something totally different #lifeafterintel

Intel's legal team is BIC, of that there is no doubt. You have no chance.

It amazes me these messages. No one is exempt from being let go from any company. There is no basis to sue, and why would anyone want to take that path? Litigation, lawsuits will follow you, good luck getting other employment when you have background checks that show you were involved in lawsuit with a former employer. This sense of "entitlement" is problematic. Sadly, many of these people getting laid off know no differently, as they stepped from college/ intern into employment, and have no experience working for any other company. This is reality in every company in this country. The lesson is to understand that reality, keep yourself competitive and high performer, and never become complacent and expect you are entitled to be employed anywhere. If you have that expectation, it's probably what led to your current status. Join the 1000's of unemployed, highly skilled professionals and quit whining about impending layoffs and get out there and market yourself for your next gig. Never put all your eggs in one basket!!!

I understand you can be fearful and upset at a time like this. But be realistic, if you are targeted take the offer and move on. There is life after intel. Yes the corporation may seem greedy and unfair... but remember they have to make decisions to stay in business as well. Just let the negative energy go, it will not help you land another job.
