EMHC restack to WE3 seating?

There is a discussion on Bl!nd about upcoming restack of the whole campus to WE3 seating.
Thoughts?

New fundraising idea for United Way:

Auction off reserved prime desk locations just like they auction off reserved parking places.

WE3 treats people as low as cars in a public parking lot. Only difference is that in a public parking lot the Kia and the Bentley have the same treatment of first come first served. In EM, the Bentleys (managers) get offices and only the Kias have to fight over desks.

DW should cancel all the renovations for his building on campus and just do WE3 in random cubicles around campus.

Like undercover boss.

Instead of forcing 100% of people to work WE3 and ki-l every ounce of pride and loyalty to EM, just assign one desk to two people like those school desks from 100 years ago. Sit side by side 1 foot apart.

Pair up 1 HiPo and 1 NI per desk so the HiPo can set the good example and pull up the NI to the Outstanding category.

This will build 100% EM loyalty, make people eager to go to work every day, and improve all NI employees while using only 50% of desks.

One rumor is they are going to lease out some of the space thus forcing us to have to place more XOM people per Sf in the remaining space.
I’ve worked in a WE3 environment before and it sucks. Everyone likes their work area and to feel comfortable (as possible) at work. WE3 makes you feel like a guest.
I can’t wait for the Yammer Leg humpers to talk about how great WE3 is…look for photos soon with incoming likes from management.

Do you really believe the CFO is pushing WE3?

She is paid over $22,000 per hour and should focus on much bigger hit topics than reducing office desk usage and demoralizing an entire workforce.

What/who is the real push behind WE3 on a campus already owned and currently operated far under capacity?

DW and all his direct reports should lead by example and adopt WE3 in cubicles.

Let them collaborate all day every day and only have one lockable drawer each to keep their Magic 8 Ball.

You mean the folks from Dallas aren't going to fill the buildings?

Bet many will retire or quit as they don't want to move. Just like when Fairfax closed.

WE3 on campus is being pushed by the new hire CFO. She is trying to justify the 186,400 XOM shares that she was gifted in her first 5 months as New Hire employee.

She toured campus a few months ago and considered it a huge waste of money and wants to see how to optimize and possibly generate revenue with the asset.

WE3 sucks as does the acronym. What a bunch of Cr-p but just another example of all the benefits and value proposition for employees going downhill. Remember when everyone had an office from day one of being hired? Remember when education program was unlimited and fully paid for MBA? Remember when health insurance and dental was good?

Someone on bl!nd posted this; any truth?

Buildings not in use would be considered vacated for maintenance, taxes, etc. Supposedly this is a huge cost savings, but honestly just a way for the E&PS VP to show how they contributed their share of savings. E&PS outsourced almost all of their organization in years past, there’s no more operating expense savings to show besides short term moves like this.

How many buildings are already configured for WE3?

Will this reduce the 'occupational rental fee(s)' hidden in our paycheck deductions?
I understand the laptop fee and copier use surcharges, but rental for a shared desk seems a little much.

Biggest hit for me: the 3 years of gum wads I'd been collecting.

Probably will be shut down for mold issues within the decade, in any case.
Might be best not to have a captive location like an office of your own.

Honestly, it’s a good idea. Monetize the campus. It depreciates heavily each year, so offset the depreciation and maintenance costs through real rent dollars. Not monetizing a depreciating asset is/was a bad idea. Glad KM is forcing some logical changes.

@rsd+1 is right! The plan is We3 starting 2Q23. LCS is already doing it now and it will be rolled out campus wide. Energy and Wellness will be the occupied buildings and Science and Nature no occupants unless rented. With further planned HC reductions this should be no problem especially if you are VP+ and get to keep an office. Remember fun is a core value! #latentsarcasm #leavenow!

In order to density and reduce cost, the plan is to pack all Spring campus employees into either Energy or Wellness quads as part of the 2023 restack. Nearly everyone will be in 1x spaces and WE3.

Nothing ki--s morale more than WE3...and the midday cleaning of the bathrooms...and the sandpaper TP EPS stocks.

Adoption of WE3 after creating a surplus of desks by headcount reduction is just as smart as building Golden Pass LNG import terminal just after initiating a fracking program to make the USA a gas exporter.

Getting a locker feels like school. If I only need to attend for 6 hours and someone else does my adulting, than you have yourself a deal. ‘Field trips’ here I come!

About time the rest of you get treated to what EMIT has been doing since we moved to HL in 2015. Nothing makes you feel wanted like not having your own assigned seat. It's even better when the managers lose their offices and move to WE3.

@jwo+1ibCPUpY

Then what's the point of we3? The only non-BS reason to do hotdesking is to save floor space and money. If there's a surplus of floorspace then why go to a hotdesk model that has a bunch of well known problems for productivity and morale?

My assumption is the in plan is to shutdown or rent out enough buildings to bring the number of desks below the number of employees on campus. If that's not the case, then I'm utterly baffled as to what the reason to implement we3 could be.

Guys, guys, calm down. There is plenty, I MEAN REALLY PLENTY, of space at the HC. Nobody is here. The place is a ghost town. You will be able to choose, keep, reserve in advance any desk that you want. If things keep going this way you will be able to reserve your own floor or even building. HC is empty.

WE3 means no assigned desks. You have a small locker is all. Every day you come in and have to hunt for a place to sit. Makes it a lot easier to pack up when you are PIPd though!

WE3 is terrible. Just ask anyone who has already been in an office that is WE3. We hate it in Australia.
