Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

There's still a lot of talent at Citrix

I am surprised at the many hateful "bu-t-hurt" comments I see posted here. Citrix is and will continue being a great company to work for. Many people don't understand that Citrix is NOT a not-for-profit company. Negativity will get you nowhere fast. Stay positive people.

Go Citrix!

I’m not HR and I am staying. If I get laid off, I’ll find something else.

Is the company what it once was was? Of course not.

Do I miss the culture that has been lost? Of course I do.

Are there still good people here? Heck yeah even though many have left.

I’m sticking around and will be part of the solution, not the problem. Staying negative won’t help and will only contribute to mental health issues. I am pretty sure that there will be professional growth to those that stick around at lower and mid levels. Once this regime cashes out the people left will fill those voids. Stay strong my friends!!!

Godspeed.

Picking up on that last post — all the talent left at Citrix is at the individual contributor level. And those folks are there because there are some RSUs to be collected, on so on — but everyone is looking for the door. Sure, it’s “toxic,” but mostly it’s just ridiculous these days. Nearly criminal. Management is pilfering shares of stock to create their golden parachutes, and as the last post indicated — absolutely no product development whatsoever. No one is even trying to hide it anymore.

With the future being tied to Tibco, a company possibly even more hopeless than Citrix is now, it isn’t any place to start, or advance, your career. You’d just end up pulling your hair out.

This post can ONLY have come from HR, who realized they can't get anyone to accept an offer to work here. I interact with people from across almost every department in the company and pretty much everyone knows this company is f'd.

If you are considering a job at Citrix, run! Run away and never look back! This company has an outlandish number of useless people here, particularly senior leadership. There is zero product vision. The company under the fired CEO was ONLY concerned about stock price and every move we made was a short term one aimed to boost stock price. The man couldn't say hi without pointing at the stock price and saying "up and to the right!". If they were half as interested in having an innovative and compelling product strategy, we wouldn't be getting acquired by PE groups and waiting for the next big round of layoffs so we can all be replaced with cheaper / less talented workers so Vista can improve operating margins by sacrificing talent.

If you want confirmation, ask whoever you're interviewing with what is Citrix's next big product strategy is. XenApp/XenDesktop was our flagship for the last 20 years. What's our new flagship that is innovative and will carry us through the next 20 years? Be specific. If you get a fluffy, vague answer, this confirms everything above.

NO ONE KNOWS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T EXIST.

There are very few companies owned by PE that come out with stronger talent than the day they were acquired. The best leave for the highest paying, most dynamic places. Some will be part of the ongoing layoffs. The rest stay because they either don't have good options, don't like change or are in a small club of employees that have been put on golden handcuffs to keep the place running.

There are always exceptions of course, and PE's modulate their zeal depending on the growth and progress of the company. Some do proctology exams every week, while others leave the company to grow, with a lighter touch... until there are some hiccups, when the proctology exams return. Their game is to buy low and sell high so they need the employees. Just not as many.

The best company leaders behave like benevolent PE's, running a tight ship, not making too many mistakes and always looking for the best talent, not just loyalists who are sending sunshine up. But when intellectual corruption and cronyism becomes rampant. (like promoting in FLL, bringing your buddies from SAP, or circling yourself with friends who like to drink with you) , the system starts decaying and the vultures come in.

Good luck for those who stay. Good news is that PE are very objective... Bad news is that what they see as value is likely not what you do.

It has to be ELT, they are the only ones still delusional enough to think there’s still a lot of talent left at Citrix to try and draw others in with “the great culture they have”. Citrix culture blows, sales and product talent at Citrix is long gone. In fact watched it leave myself Q1 and Q2 of 21. Now TH & HL - his minion (both just as terrible and demeaning) Are running it further into the ground. Both getting mad bc the whole team is leaving and they can’t find anyone to fill the roles besides SDRs or AES who under preform who couldn’t close a screen door, and shouldn’t be AE’s.

From another post, in case you've missed it. Keep slacking my friend and be a part of the bigger picture!

Its funny because if you stick around long enough and you were mediocre employee, you have a great chance of moving up to a job that you will be incompetent doing. So hang in there! Citrix is desperate but they are not doing anything to help make it better.

Someone has been smelling the glue that is holding Citrix together. Great you want to help the world and must be nice working for the only team in Citrix that cared about you. Go change the world but nothing about Citrix is great any more. Planning my escape and there is other places that will treat us right and pay over 140K+ a year.

Nope. I'm not even a people manager. I have been working at Citrix since 2010 and I stand by what I said. Are there bad people at Citrix? Yes. They are everywhere. But my experience has been positive. Everyone I work with is good at what they do, and our leadership has always supported us. I am sorry that your experience and that of many others is not good, but from what I have seen, lots of people also carry a lot of negativity and will never be happy anywhere. I thought I was going to be part of the layoffs last year, and I lost a few team members. But I am still here and I am still proud to be a Citrite. One thing is probably certain... After Citrix, I am done with any corporate job. I will dedicate my energy to help others and work towards a better planet for future generations, doing things that I am passionate about only.

I'm talented and I stay here. Yes that sounds arrogant but I've been in the industry long enough to make that statement with confidence. Truth be told, I find the layoffs, the spinoffs and the mergers and acquisitions ( including our own ) incredibly interesting. More interesting than my day job tbh. I've been in the industry for more than 20 years, and seen some fundamental changes like email, wireless networking, mobile, virtualization, cloud, plus numerous soft methodologies like Agile etc come and go. I don't like change, but I am capable of dealing with it, and these days it all takes a backseat to the larger show which is how Citrix is evolving over time. Its way more interesting to watch it play out than playing with a new flavor-of-the-month automation tool or learning a new flavor-of-the-month programming language which does exactly the same stuff as one you are already proficient at. Maybe they'll fire me one day, so be it, I'll find something else, but once you can detach yourself from the day to day and get some enjoyment from the bigger picture its a lot more interesting.
