Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Why is it that citibank hires a lot of very low quality employees?

I'm not saying everyone, but there's definitely people that I really have a hard time seeing them be able to land any decent job let alone at a big corporation like this?

Are the job posts not competed at all? Is it managers that like to hire people that don't threaten their position? Is it the long and dysfunctional onboarding process that leaves only a few candidates at the end wanting the position?

Or are the candidates fine, but they just lose motivation once they become part of the citi culture?

Good, so I am not the only one who noticed and raised that question on this forum. My theory is that once poor people permeated the institution and managed to reach a critical mass then everything else follow - id--ts hire id--ts. There are exceptions, but I agree, the average level of the average manager at Citi is brutally low. Most can barely speak and write English. In terms of technical knowledge, they are pretty bad as well. I joined from another top bank to apparently improve processes - my boss is a chimp. No idea what he is doing. I deeply regret the move that that particular team. It is very difficult to have a limited manager.

I have seen closely that there is a lot of nepotism in citi hiring process . I am not sure how the work gets done with incompetent resources . And probably for such positions there was no need of any jobs . The HR is weak and equally involved in this nexus . The MD and D controls the show . They are like kingmakers . You can bring in a person to SVP role who has no past experience in that area .

It’s not only employees but also with IT vendors for Citi which needs to be looked.

No deserving employee should be fired until all non deserving are fired ?

Impotent HR and Recruitment process.

Recruitment happens when there is a budget. If budget is reduced they end up in layoff.
There is no proper onboarding, valuation of employees. Only politics prevails.

Let go all the HR and Recruiters. Let go more MD's and D's. Do more shuffling of employees. Citi will survive and thrive.

It's long past time to buy the BullSHi+ Red Button from Amazon. Everytime I hear Citi BvllSH!T which is everyday, I'll press the button. The MDs and Ds have been giving their directs pep talks about the Forced Curve Rankings that 65% of all Employees must be Downgraded TO 3-Meets Expectations and how getting 3-Ratings Meets Expectations/Valued Contributor is actually a good thing because we're "valued contributors". Yeah right. NO One is buying the BullSHi+. That BullSh!t is so Hot and piled so High, it's taller than Mount Mauna Kea in Hawaii (world's highest mountain) and spews More BullSH!t than the world's worst volcano, Mount Tambora in Indonesia (caused 92,000 De@ths)! It's a laughable tragicomedy black comedy that MDs and Ds are actually spewing this Sh!t ! Employees know that 1 and 2 Ratings get better bonuses, salary increases and promotion prospects. So their song and dance about how getting 3-Ratings are excellent and wonderful is as truthful and real as Pyrite being real Gold! Employees will actually say, yeah it's ok that my Rating is downgraded to 3-Valued Contributor from 2's or 1's because Citi is Not Profitable unlike its Competitors-G0ds JPMC, BofA, Goldman etc. and can Not afford to dole out better bonuses, salary increases and promotions to more people. Said NO One EVER!!! We'll also say, it's ok that the 2 and 1 Employees can buy and afford better houses, cars, retirements plans, vacations, etc. Said NO One EVER !!! A lot of people hired have very poor written and verbal communication skills.
While English may be their second language, some of them only have very basic English.
How do they pass interview?
