Does anyone know if the Pittsburgh art institute is closing the doors soon?
No definitive word on the school, AiP and subsequently AiO, closing or going into teach out. Middle States will be visiting with the interim president/provost and the receiver next week. Maybe, just maybe, if AiP can hold on to accreditation then it will be easier for the receiver to sell the school to a prospective buyer. No guarantees employees will be safe if the school sells, but students would at least be able to continue with their education and degree programs.
Do not expect a straight answer from AiP president or provost. Middle States requested a report on January 15, due by January 26. Employees have heard nothing of importance just “business as usual.”

Other campuses may follow and close at the end of the quarter. Students found out through VA benefits agency not AiLV.
The court appointed receiver works to restructure a company, manage its assets and obligations, and bring the company into a period of "recovery". By laying off staff, closing schools and liquidating assets the receiver is trying to generate enough cash-flow to meet its financial obligations so that it can operate. If the receiver believes that the company cannot meet its obligations it will conduct an orderly shutdown and close the business.
When a school applies for accreditation and student loan eligibility it is required to submit a "teach out plan". A teach out plan outlines how a school will orderly cease operations with the least affect to students. It tries to give students the opportunity to finish their course of study, or, transfer to another institution.
Just because a school has a teach out plan doesn't mean it always is carried out. At any time they can just lock the doors and shut the business down with no notice. Is it ethical? No, but it's what has been happening to for-profit schools across the country.
When they let go all the chairs and Lead Faculty - then you will know we are done
There is no point in keeping Chairs - they are just curriculum managers - waste of money at this point
Same for Lead Faculty - waste of $60,000 + at this point

Only people needed at this point are Faculty and Payroll and maybe one Manager.

There has been not official word on AiP or AIPOD (sorry, but you are not your own school). MY best guess is that they will finish off Winter term and close at the end of March. If you look at the employees they kept after this week, it is just those that are needed to keep operating for the rest of this term.
Honestly, at this point the name is tarnished and It may be better just to close everything down for the sake of the students so they can move on with their lives and get their lives out of a state of panic.

1ipf thank you for seeing the big picture here as well as teaching your kids the ability to do the same. I am in agreement. Students can choose to work hard or try everything in their power to get a free pass. Unfortunately it's the latter more than I'd like. To get a job in the field you need to work hard. And working hard does not guarantee 50k when you graduate. You start at the bottom and work your way up as your employer sees you work hard and take initiative. And a job will not fall in your lap. That takes work too.
Yes. Show up for classes Monday both at AiP and AiPOD (aka AiO).
No faculty at AiP AiO have been laid off as of tonight.
The only classes cancelled are new student classes. No new students are being admitted but classes are being offered to support current students, at least for now.

BuK you are the id--t. How would MY paycheck be related at all to my child attending AIP? In the best case scenario, I've never heard of anyone getting paid to attend a higher education institution, let alone their parents. My child is not an "id--t" . The id--ts are the people that have no understanding that their degree doesn't guarantee employment. Lazy a-- "poor me's" that expect jobs to fall in their lap and keep them employed/paid for an entire career while they put in no effort is who ruined the school system. Buyer beware...know what you are buying and don't buy an education if you aren't motivated to make it work for you. I built my entire career on a for profit associates degree that I transferred and turned into a bachelors. I'm far from an id--t. I'm a hard worker that makes everything I have work for me and I raised my kids to do the same. My kid isn't going to be crying the blues about how the world took his money and screwed him over on an internet forum. We are simply using the tools we've got to the best of our abilities and he is pretty pleased with the tools he has been given. I'm sorry that triggers you.

For the person that is upset that the instructors are not sharing anything with the students, it's because 1) the instructors haven't been told anything and 2) if they were and they told the students, the administrators would make them recant or remove any announcements in online classes.

I was supposed to be a returning student and they told me this morning that AiO is no longer accepting new or returning students and have a plan for current students only but that classes aren’t starting Monday but at a “later date”. I also spoke with a director in the finance department this afternoon, they are officially closing the online division.
We really need to start a private page for verified employees and students, one that’s not anonymous so people can be held accountable for their asinine comments.
Instructors know nothing... we are kept in the dark.

The professors have to know if it’s going to close at the Pittsburgh art institute. Why don’t they just tell the students so they can move on and make other arrangements to complete their degrees.
I have a kid in aip who values the education experience. From what I hear he feels confident in what he's learned, confident and admiring of his professors experience and abilities and is truly pleased and at home in this environment. I really hope someone finds a way for him to continue and graduate because in most cases, a person's success is based on THEM not outside sources and I know he will make the best of his opportunities instead of giving up and crying about being a victim.

The reciever can not decide to end offering classes immediately; he/she still must follow DOE guidelines.
As for if/when it will close in the future, we will probably know by end of month which is next week.
Is Ai San Diego still enrolling new students? They are in receivership as well.
There has been no communications to students faculty or staff.
They are in “receivership” and a lawyer is deciding whether it stays or goes. They say they are going to keep teaching the students who are around, and no new ones. That said the layer could decide it’s not worth it at all and end operations immediately.
