Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Freedom...

I'm free... the feeling of liberation and excitement is unbelievable.

If you have not already, grasp the nettle and get out NOW.

There are many jobs out there and the longer you stay with TD the more your skills are diluted and the harder it becomes to make any transition.

Couldn't agree more. Drank the koolaid for too long and the instability was traumatizing. In my new role and new company I am so much happier, so much more engaged and glad to have left the trauma of TD behind.

Haha, I can still traumatize former TD employees by messaging them “cloudification”.

Let’s do a cloud deploy, on-prem! 🤣🤣🤣

If TD works so well, why is it always breaking, always needing tuning, and requires a massive team of DBAs and support?

Vantage nearly ended TD with its horrid reliability... it might have actually. Most the features promised were not shipped, and took a very long time (if ever) to be released. It was nothing new, just word play renaming everything and literally offering not one new revolutionary feature... there is no Ad-vantage at all.

If you think that's a winning play, or a great thing that today's CTOs are tolerant of, you are truly a Teradactyl. At least it will scale in the cloud and save TD...oh wait. 🤣🤣🤣

I'm neither in management nor an outsider. I've been in TD engineering for over a decade. And I'm sick of hearing whiney newbie dweebs degrade our technical environment because they're too lazy or st—d to tackle the learning curve. And when one of them does offer improvement suggestions, they're simply offering to replace things that work with things they're familiar with but don't work. It is you that is useless. Stop being part of the problem or just move on. We need you like we all need cancer.

"Just what tools and technology are you objecting to? What specifically would you replace them with?"

Either you are management that is incapable of doing your job (no surprise there) or someone outside the company who is looking for information to tear it down. Either way, you're useless and only dragging the company down rather than building it up.

Either way, Vantage is one of the many problems.

Anyone that worked or still works at Teradata knows it is toxicity at its best. Those of you that put the bs on here about how great it is at Teradata are just jealous that you have not found a way out. Everything posted about becoming stagnant at Teradata is true. Just look at the tools and technology the employees are forced to use. If Teradata can’t keep up with empowering their employees with current technology then how can it keep its own products ahead of the trends!

Good luck. I found a new role with TdC and loving it. Others made the move out and are really struggling

Same with me. I am very happy and content with my situation now. Especially with H1B and uncertainty in TD. I am glad i made the switch.

Happy for you OP, started my freedom last week. I slept better, ate better, exercised again, and had this weird thing happen where I started to smile again. Enjoy it, you've earned it!
