Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Have you ever met anyone enthusiastic about their job at UP?

UP is just a stain on my resume, nothing more. Managers mostly strive to make living he-l out of employees' lives. Morale is very low and almost everyone I know is convinced that it can only get worse from here.

What is wrong with you? Why do you stay with any organization that makes you this miserable? Almost every company in the US is having trouble filling jobs, but you choose to stay somewhere you hate: Why? Does complaining make you happy? Why would you choose (yes I say choose because nobody is making you stay) this lifestyle? You either have mental/emotional issues, or things aren’t as bad as you write.

I know a few that have quit. They have weekends off , better pay ,$40. per hour. Check at the electric power companies . 1 guy went to work for Tesla in Houston.

I also vote that you should seriously think about quitting. I’ve been here 20yrs and yes this is the worst UP has ever been. Unfortunately it is only by more and more people quitting is what will force UP as a company to change and treat employees better. It is absolutely disgusting that UP management will not treat employees better bcuz it is the right, just, and moral way to be. But complaining, hating your job yet staying here isnt going to improve anything for anyone, especially you. I hope whatever you choose to do brings you much more happiness.

Leave. If you feel like this about any job you should not stay. This isn’t to say the company is great, but for your own mental health you should change careers.

I tried professional counseling, and they told me to find a new job at a different company.
